Empowering children and teens to embrace and express their inherent divinity.

Director's Note

You are wealthy beyond measure.  Know it.  Act like it.  Be grateful for it.  Prosperity consciousness can be a tricky concept for our children, whose view of abundance is very black and white.  They base their prosperity identity on the things that they own or don't own ... clothes, toys, gadgets, money in their piggy bank.  Or by what they get to do ... vacations, activities.  Very rarely do they attach the thought of abundance to having a roof over their heads, food to eat, clean air and water to enjoy, health, friends, or loving families.  When we share our own gratitude for a delicious meal, the warmth of our homes when we walk in out of the cold, or a sunny day, we help our children see how blessed with abundance they are.  A great practice for 2019 is starting a Blessings Jar.  Put a wide-mouth jar or vase, small strips of paper, and a pen somewhere in your home where everyone has access to it.  Invite everyone to write down one thing from each day that made them feel blessed.  At the end of the year, you can empty the jar, read aloud all the wonderful blessings you enjoyed, and appreciate how truly prosperous you are.

We need teachers for all of our classes!  It takes a village to raise our children and teens up in Unity, and we're reaching out to you!  Help us by giving us one or two Sundays a month that you'll teach in Soul School.  We have wonderful teacher-friendly curriculum that will teach you as much about Spirit as it does our youth.  See Kate.

This Week's Angel Affirmation:  "A person's wealth is not counted in his wallet, but in his soul."

This Sunday in Soul School

Soul School starts at 10:25 am, with our Sacred Circle, where we share the Daily Word, our affirmations for the week, and our Love Offerings.  Please sign-in your child(ren) in the Garden Room by 10:20 am, so we can get started on time.

We are now planning our Youth-Led Service that will take place on May 5.  Please bring your child(ren) to Soul School as often as possible to help create and rehearse this special service.

Unitots (Infant - Pre-K):  Loving childcare in a free-play environment.

Unikids (Gr. K - 2):  Celebrating My God-Self, Bk. 2 - "My Power to Create."  We have the power to create our world.  We start with a Bright Light meditation; read and discuss The Parable of the Candle; so a Hiding Your Light activity; and create Superhero Sculptures.

Unitweens (Gr. 3 - 5): All Together Now, Bk 2 - "Denials."  We can change our lives by letting go of thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve us.  We play a Negative Thought Keep-Away game; read and discuss Lazarus Lives; do a Burning Bowl Ceremony; and go on a Treasure Hunt.

Uniteens (Gr. 6 - 8): Uniteens Life Issues Series - Choices and Consequences - "Risky, Not Reckless"   There are benefits to taking risks.  We do a Standing Questionnaire; act out and discuss The Parable of the Talents; do a Good Risk/Bad Risk activity; and make Trust Teepees.

YOU (Gr. 9 -12):  Continue with Living Originally.

Soul School Sleepover  Sat., Feb. 9 at 6 pm

Our K-12 grade students are invited for a sleepover in the Garden Room.  They'll enjoy a pasta dinner, games and a movie (with popcorn!).  We have a hot breakfast the next morning and wear our jammies to church for our Youth Sunday lesson.  Parents of younger children are welcome (and encouraged!) to accompany their children for this fun, overnight event.  Admission: $15.

We are Creating our Youth-Led Service!

Each year our Gr. K-12 Soul School students create a beautiful and fun service.  This year's theme (chosen by our YOU) is "Dancing in the Chaos."  We'll take the platform on Sunday, May 5 and share our unique take on how Spirit works in our lives.  This event helps to build confidence in our students and encourages self-expression and creativity.

Your child(ren) will want to attend Soul School as often as possible over the next months, as we take a little time during each Sunday lesson to write and rehearse our class presentations.  Our students' participation is what drives this important service enjoyed by young and old alike.

What will they teach us this year?  Your child(ren) will want to help create this traditional Unity event.  Is your child stage-shy?  We can find another way for them to participate!
