LET'S CONNECT, LA!

Webinar: COVID-19 and the Digital Divide 💻

It's been seven months since COVID-19 first shut down schools, offices, and other public spaces, disrupting many of our daily rhythms and introducing a digital way of life. With no end in sight, those without access are falling further behind.

This Friday, October 23 at 11:00 am, tune into LA2050's “COVID-19 and the Digital Divide" webinar — a forum for social impact organizations to discuss the challenges and opportunities of virtual programming and service delivery, as well as to learn about emerging solutions to the digital divide.

We'll be joined by five nonprofit leaders who will share their knowledge and experiences addressing the connectivity challenges of COVID-19:
  • Cynthia Strathmann, Executive Director of Strategic Actions for a Just Economy
  • Allie Bussjaeger, Director of Impact and Sustainability at human-I-T
  • Dr. Guisela Juarez, Operations Director at Clínica Msr. Romero
  • Amy Iorio, Chief Executive Officer of 9 Dots
  • Allison Holmes, Senior Director of Operations and Strategy at the Annenberg Foundation

2020 SOCIAL IMPACT TRENDS
2020 My LA2050 Applicants
Today, we are releasing our report with highlights from the 2020 My LA2050 Grants Challenge!

Each year, the My LA2050 Grants Challenge sheds light on the issues Angelenos care about most and the strategies they're using to address them. And, despite the uncertainty of 2020, this year was no exception. Here are some of the social impact trends and bright spots that emerged from this year's 285 submissions:
📣  Holistic support for Angelenos: During the time of COVID-19, when many Angelenos were feeling isolated and craving connection, it is not surprising that the “social and emotional support” metric was this year's most popular target for improvement.

📣 Investing in education: This year, the LEARN category received the most submissions of our five goal categories. The 86 proposals in LEARN sought to improve high school graduation rates, increase the rate of college attendance, and prepare students for the workforce of the future.

📣  COVID-19 resilience and recovery: A significant number of submitters sought to respond to the needs that emerged because of the pandemic. Their projects aimed to help those impacted by job loss, address the inadequacies of our social safety nets, and improve health care delivery.
Check out all of the 2020 trends!
