With the peace and grace of Christ, I greet you!

Elizabeth and I want to thank you all for the warm and generous welcome we have received. It is a delight to be in your midst and to begin my ministry at Hazelwood Christian Church in service to the realm of God.

I am looking forward to getting to know each of you… over a cup of coffee, with a meal, in an office visit or a pastoral call at your home, in worship, in meetings, and in the community. I cherish conversations and know that God is in our midst always; especially when two or three are gathered in the name of Christ.

The poet Muriel Rukeyser writes, “Nourish beginnings, let us nourish beginnings.” Holy Scripture, the Word of God, begins with the words, “In the beginning…” The resurrected Christ tells his followers to return to Galilee where it all began and, in essence, to begin the story again. Every moment is a new beginning. And, together, we begin something new and precious.
In Christ,
Rev. Eric

Muncie Mission Food Pantry

Dear Friends,
The summer has been a challenging time for many people in our community. Neighbors struggling to make ends meet can’t afford to feed their families each month. Folks who were getting by have to cut things from their budget. Meals are often the first thing to go. As we prepare hundreds of meals every day for a growing number of neighbors—including children—our pantry is running low on essentials.

Right now, Muncie Mission Ministries needs to fill our pantry shelves to have plenty of healthy food on hand to serve neighbors in need. Can you give generously right now to nourish our community physically and spiritually? Your gift will be used to provide emergency meals for overnight guests, feed men and women in our recovery programs, and help us prepare for the busy fall season ahead. Muncie Mission Ministries relies on the donations of neighbors, businesses, churches and organizations to provide meals for every person God leads to our doors every day. Your generosity serves as a lifeline to neighbors at a time they desperately need it.

Since everything we do is in the name of Christ, neighbors will see the kindness and generosity of a loving Savior who meets our needs in miraculous ways … oftentimes through caring friends like you. Please, will you help us fill our pantry shelves? (Click HERE to donate.)

May God be glorified through the meals we serve in the weeks and months to come!

September 25: Church-Wide Field Trip!

Join our new Youth Ministry Assistant, the Epiphany Action Team, and other Hazelwood Friends on an outing to the Levi & Catharine Coffin State Museum in Fountain City on Sunday, September 25! This historic site has been named one of the TOP 25 HISTORIC SITES in the US! It serves as both an important piece of our nation's history and a valuable tool for Christians today to reflect on Christ's call to action on behalf of others.

Joanna Hahn will serve as one of our guides, and we are planning to provide group transportation from the church. We will also offer the chance to be part of a group order from Jimmy John's to be delivered to the church for a quick lunch after worship before we head out no later than 11:30am. We expect to return to the church no later than 3:30pm, possibly sooner. Plan now to join in the fun and fellowship of this learning opportunity.

Click HERE by Sunday, September 18, to sign up to take part in this exciting opportunity!
