Recently I ran across the following statement by the scientist Werner Heisenberg, “What we see is not Nature, but Nature exposed to our method of questioning.” Remember Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle? (I didn’t until I refreshed my memory thanks to Google.) Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle states that in Quantum Physics you cannot know with precision the location AND the speed of an object. You can only know one or the other.
I’ve been having some fun over the last twenty-four hours thinking about Heisenberg’s statement in light of Advent. Substitute “God” for “Nature” and you get a wonderful Advent statement: “What we see is not God, but God exposed to our method of questioning.” We “see” a baby in a manger and declare, “God-With-Us.” AND ... God is still so much more!
In Christ,
Rev. Eric

Advent Season Devotional
I have taken a couple of sneak peeks at our Advent devotional for 2022, I Am Mary. I delight how the author, Carol Howard Merritt, uses the perspective of Mary, the mother of Jesus, to take the reader through this season of preparation. Merritt writes, “As we enter this Advent season together, may we learn to long and love deeply, and may we get a glimpse of what it means to bear God.”
You may request a copy from the office or pick a booklet up at church. A donation of $4 is suggested to cover the cost.

Welcome to Holy Grounds!
We officially have a new name for our after-worship gathering of friends, family, coffee, and (of course) goodies! We had a fair number of responses to our name survey, and while it was close between a couple of the choices, Holy Grounds edged out the competition!
