Spring 2014                             The Brookdale Foundation Group

A Very Happy
Spring!

On behalf of the Brookdale Foundation Group, we wish you a very happy spring and a belated happy and healthy New Year!

We look forward to seeing you at the RAPP Network Conference, October 17-19, 2014 in Denver, Colorado!

This was a very busy summer and fall for the Foundation. We moved from our New York office to our temporary office in Fort Lee, NJ and are now at our final destination in Teaneck, New Jersey. Please update your organization's records with our new contact information, found on the bottom of this page.

Enjoy this edition of the RAPP Site Bulletin. It has ideas to help you create and/or expand services to relative caregiver families and includes information on new resources to help you meet the needs of the caregiver families you serve.

Thank you for all you do for grandparents and other relatives raising children and their families!

Congratulations Montana State University Extension!

Dr. Bailey Receives the 2014 Provost's Excellence Award from
Montana State University (MSU)

Since 2001, Dr. Sandra Bailey has served as the MSU Extension Family & Human Development Specialist. In that role, she has developed many effective programs and innovative partnerships, including the successful Montana Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Project. Bailey began the program after finding that, due to family crises, more grandparents were taking on a primary parenting role for their grandchildren.

In addition to other methods of support, the program trains support group facilitators and offers educational conferences and other resources for grandparent caregivers. Bailey also conducts research with the Montana Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Project.

The Relatives As Parents Program

(RAPP)

The Relatives As Parents Program (RAPP) was started in 1996 and is designed to encourage and promote the creation and expansion of supportive services to grandparents and other relatives who have taken on the responsibility of surrogate parenting due to the absence of the parents.
