Hi <<First name>>

Last month the National Farmer's Federation launched a new online community: Australian Farmers. It's a place where you can connect, stay informed and have your say! When you join Australian Farmers, you'll get access to all the latest news, weather and market information. Why not take a tour and see for yourself?

Send us your feedback and suggestions via email, or connect with us on Facebook and Twitter or check us out on YouTube. We'd love to hear from you...

Happy reading!

For the short gain or the long haul?

Beef business mentoring rolls out in southern Queensland

The Better Beef Business workshops are rolling out across southern Queensland as part of the Northern Beef Business Mentoring Profram. These workshops focus on taking beef business owners to the next level of business thinking, skills and profitability, and complement other programs like Grazing BMP and EDGEnetwork. See what's on and how to get involved here.

Staying safe on the farm

Agriculture is a rewarding industry to work in, but it can be dangerous. As part of the National Farm Safety Week campaign last month, Safe Work Australia partnered with the National Farmers' Federation to produce two short videos on stockyard handling and machinery safety. You can watch these and others on the Safe Work Australia YouTube channel.

Repronomics: genetic improvement in tropically adapted beef cattle

Low reproductive rates in north Australian beef herds limit enterprise productivity. But a collaborative five-year Meat & Livestock Australia funded project aims to develop more accurate methods of genetic selection to influence the rate of gain for a number of economically important traits and in particular, female fertility. Learn more about how this research will increase performance and productivity of northern beef herds.

Lights, camera, action on ferals!

The Invasive Animals CRC is holding their annual photography competition again! A new category - best footage - has been added to this year's competition. So, if you're a budding photographer, videographer or you got lucky with a great shot on your phone, send your entries in to them. You'll find all the competition details here.
