Nominations are now open for the North Australia Beef Research Council (NABRC) medals. These medals recognise the achievements of those who have made a significant contribution to the north Australian beef industry in the fields of production, research and development, and communication or extension. Submissions must be made by 1 July 2016 and winners will be presented with their medals at Northern Beef Research Update Conference in August. Here are some more details about the NABRC Medals and how to apply.

Bovine Johne's Disease and the new Biosecurity Act. What it means for you...

From 1 July 2016, there'll be major changes to the way Johne's Disease is managed is Queensland. Last month, we invited Dr Lawrence Gavey to provide a basic overview of Bovine Johne's Disease and an understanding of the new Biosecurity Act to assist you to sustainably manage BJD risk. Northern Beef Infrastructure Review complete

The Northern Beef Infrastructure Review outlines priority infrastructure projects and how they might be developed to increase the value of the northern beef industry in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia. The review commissioned by the Department of Agriculture and Food's Northern Beef Futures project and Meat and Livestock Australia, identified a set of priority projects through extensive stakeholder consultation and analysis of the potential impact of the northern beef industry. Great news for the northern beef industry! Professor Ben Hayes, world-renowned geneticist, has recently started with the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation. Learn a little more about Ben's research in genomic selection.
