A Note on the Independent Citizen's Redistricting Commission
League members gave much time educating voters this past decade about gerrymandering and its effects on Michigan's Legislative and Congressional district maps.  We advocated for fair maps first through the courts and then through a ballot proposal campaign.  Now we have an Independent Citizens' Redistricting Commission and we need to continue the work by helping to ensure that Communities of Interest prticipate in the Commission's public hearings next Spring and Summer.
Christina Schlitt, President LWVMI

There will be more information on this in Donna Hormberger's April LWVGTA Zoom program on the third Tuesday (4/20/2021) from noon to 1:30PM.

TIMES ARE TOUGH.
TO SIMMER DOWN, TRY A FORCED EXHALE:

"Next time you're feeling furious, tell yourself to exhale.  When we're angry, we tend to suck in oxygen and hold it, freezing up in a way that exacerbates the body's stress response, says clinical psychologist Belisa Vranich, PsyD.  It's impossible, however, to hold your breath while exhaling; you are literally letting off steam.  Vranich says that urging yourself to 'let it go' in this way can be more effective than telling yourself something vague like 'calm down'."
