We cordially invite you to join us at the fourth annual Sherie deBurgh commemorative seminar taking place on Thursday 23 February at 6pm. The seminar will be hosted by One Family and the School of Social Work and Social Policy, Trinity College Dublin and will take place in-person at Trinity College and online via Zoom.

The seminar will explore the experiences of one-parent families in Ireland and reflect on the historical significance of the foundation of Cherish/One Family in 1972. Professor Lindsey Earner-Byrne of University College Cork will give a keynote lecture examining the historical challenges faced by one-parent families, in-particular single mothers, followed by a panel discussion with represents from politics and Government Departments who will discuss
 the experiences of one-parent families now, and what the state and society can do to support them into the future. All are welcome to join for more details click here

In-Person and Online Courses


One Family offer a range of parenting supports. One Family offer a series of group based parenting courses via Zoom. Our courses are specially designed for people parenting alone, sharing parenting and separating. You can view the Zoom course calendar here.

There will be two in-person courses starting in February, the Stay and Play Parenting Course and the Baby Massage Parenting Course. You can learn more here.

Our E-learning for parents’ offers a selection of five online courses that allows you to learn at your own pace. You can sign up for the courses here. We have also recently redesigned the Family Communications: Separating Well for Children e-course. You can learn more about the course here.

Policy and Media


Join Our Media and Policy Panel!
One Family are looking to form two groups of parents, a media panel and a policy panel. The Policy Panel is a group where parents can share their point of view on various policies which affect one-parent families. The media panel is a group who wish to share their experiences or highlight a specific issue affecting parents in the media. By becoming part of the panel you can help us shape our message and represent the realities of those parenting alone and/or sharing parenting.
