Hello, Hi, Živijo!

Spring 2014

You're receiving this email because we've talked about Art.

...or we've shared some other meaningful experience relating to art and art-making. This is the first of my bi-annual updates detailing what I've been up to in the studio since the last time we talked and I hope this finds you well. In the spirit of information exchange: please add me to your own lists as I would love to hear what you're making and doing.

Post-MFA Life

I've been busy since graduating with my MFA last May. I worked over the summer editing videos for The Bearded Ladies Cabaret of Philadelphia and then in the fall I was very lucky to find positions working as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University and as a Conservation Technician at the Wagner Free Institute of Science.

I look forward to Mondays and I enjoy what I'm doing: it's all I can ask for.

Below are a few images of some work students have completed in my Book Structures course at Temple.

Exhibitions

I was very lucky to have shown work with so many great artists over the last year or so. Notable among them Un-Natural Constellations at Newman Popiashivili Gallery (NYC), VOX IX at Vox Populi Gallery (PHL), and Ritual: Single Sheet Books at 110 Church Gallery (PHL). Check out the amazing online catalog 110 Church Gallery created for the show.  Here's a link to a video I created for the pieces I submitted to Ritual.

If you're in the Philadelphia area, I highly encourage you to also check out my work on display, along with two other amazing artists, through April 25th at the William Way Community Center.

Residencies

Second State Press is an amazing print studio in Philadelphia offering a lot of resources to the artistic community here. I participated in their FOB Holder program from May through December and couldn't be more happy with my experience. I will continue to be a member for a long time to come!

The country of Slovenia isn't a place I ever thought I'd be able to visit, but with my recent acceptance into D'Clinic Studios Mixer Residency program -- I'm going for the month of July! I am so excited as this collaborative residency will result in my very first two-person show, my first exhibition in Central Europe, and the opportunity to make new work. Check out my Indiegogo.com campaign page for more information. Here's a link to a video I made about this unique opportunity.
Pošlji me v Sloveniji!

Publications

My life as an artist has taken me down some very interesting, and sometimes unexepected, paths. Most recently I had a number of my images featured in various publications. Specifically as cover art for Joseph Wisenblit's Consumer Behavior, a college textbook, and as cover and title page art for the newest chapbook printed by Albion Books. I'm particularly honored to have shared my artwork with these publications as the content and art compliment each other very nicely.

Thanks!

I'll end this message with a few images from the Center for Emerging Visual Artist's Open Studios program in October and  a recent workshop I did at Philadelphia Magic Gardens in February. I hope this message finds you well and creating great things!
