Regular guests return to the Sunset Resort
In October this year Nigel and Anne Stent from Wellington enjoyed their 7th stay at the Sunset Resort. In 1970 they lived in the Cook Islands for 2 years while Nigel was posted in Rarotonga with the ANZ bank. They love returning to the Island on a regular basis and always choose to stay at the Sunset Resort because they feel the resort offers all the facilities of a larger resort but still maintains that intimate feeling and is good value for money. Nigel says "We love the staff at the resort and return to Rarotonga because the people are so genuine, friendly and sincere. Cook Islanders are generous and warm hearted people. Our son even chose to get married here last year. We prefer to come in October because we find it peaceful and the weather is more settled to welcome in a New Zealand Summer.†We look forward to seeing you both next year!
Over Island Trek
The Island of Rarotonga may seem small at only 32 km circumference but when you take the opportunity to do the "over the island walk" it can seem like a mountain to climb. Colleen Darby ( Manager of the Sunset Resort ) and Sandi Reily (Sales and Marketing ) decided to trek across the island. The hike leads up the valley and across the island under a canopy of native trees to a steep 400 metre ascent of the Needle. 3 hours later some assailing climbing and slip sliding the ladies successfully completed the trek. It had been 23 years since Colleen last completed the trek and said that it was a challenge but very satisfying to have completed.
