Welcome 99ers temporary project folders
How are the four folders working for you? Most of the time, they work fine for most people.
“1 FILED ITEMS” is for filing away without further action needed.
“2 DO THIS WEEK”, “3 HOLD FOR LATER” and “4 WAIT FOR OTHERS” all speak for themselves.
However, sometimes you may find yourself working on a defined project for which you would like to have all information together in one place. This is exactly what 99ers are for.
What?
99ers are temporary folders for defined projects, events or initiatives. You use these as a place where you file messages that don't require further action so that you hold their information all in one place without searching needed.
Why?
For some situations you may want to have ALL messages together without needing to search for them or risking to overlook something as you search. Examples are tips and ideas for an upcoming vacation, arrangements for a team event or input for a quarterly report.
How?
Create a folder (right-click on your mailbox name, select “New Folder”) with "99 [insert defined event name]". This will put the folder immediately below your default four folders. When messages arrive in your inbox, you would process them as normal in terms of Do/Hold/Wait. By the time you would normally file it away in Filed Items, you would now file it in your 99-folder instead (you can use [Ctrl+Shift+V] and then press 9 repeatedly). Once the project has finished, just file the whole folder in FILED ITEMS.
