Recap of Spring District RoundTable

We were glad for the nearly 50 leaders who gathered on Tuesday April 12th at Los Altos Grace Brethren Church for our Spring RoundTable. It was a neat day of sharing and relationship building. 

Celebrating the tools, and encouragement from the last few months of ministry, everyone got to share! We also had some time around the tables together in ministry areas...and everyone got prayed for!

Voting Info - Grace Leaders Network
& Grace Churches Network Recommendations

The Council of Directors has been working hard plans for a bright future together. Some hints have been dropped at recent Minister's Gatherings, but coming later this week these recommendations will be put on a ballot to our churches (to be sent via email directly to each Senior Pastor).
  • FYI, here is your Council of Directors 2015-2016: 
  • Moderator: Mike Jentes              Vice Moderator: Terry Daniels    
  • Secretary: Tom Hocking              Treasurer: Dale Workman
  • Members-at-Large: Jeff Patton, Glen Sykes, Ed Waken, and Brian Zuniga 

The bulk of work has been in a reconfiguration of what we have known as Ministerium. We are recommending this become a broader and more balanced group called the Grace Leaders Network.  

The purpose of this organization shall be to facilitate a relational learning and collaborating network of leaders for the holistic development of churches in harmony with the Grace Brethren Conference of Southern California-Arizona.

It maintains some of the things we have known-- monthly relational gatherings of leaders and dues of only $25 per year, but pushes into a broader and more balanced membership of all church leaders and the leadership of the network has advocates for Equipping, Shepherding, Missional work. We encourage you to check out the Grace Leaders Network Charter for the details.


Beyond that, the Council of Directors would like to encourage the use of a new streamlined name for our conference of churches -- the Grace Churches Network. This will need to be approved via the vote so we can legally use it as our "Doing Business As" (DBA) name.

The Council believes in these steps forward, yet wants to help get your questions answered about these recommendations. To that end, we want to provide three forums to answer questions or concerns that you may have:

  3. We will also designate 15 minutes of the May 10th Ministers Gathering in Boyle Heights to talk about this matter.

Summary of Recommendations

Briefly here are the 4 recommendations from the Council of Directors which will be on our May 2016 Ballot: 

1) The approval & use of a Doing Business As (DBA) name for the Grace Brethren Conference of Southern California - Arizona, Inc. as the Grace Churches Network.   
2) The removal of the defunct Traditional Church Planting Board Charter from our by-laws.       

 3) The inclusion of the Grace Leaders Network Charter 2016 as an addition to our by-laws and approve the Grace Leaders Network as a Cooperating Organization in Article V. (d). The Grace Leaders Network would replace The Southern California - Arizona District Ministerium.     

4) If #3 is affirmed (the approval of the Grace Leaders Network), then the initial slate of officers would be selected by the Council of Directors of The Conference for the 2016-2017 Grace Leaders Network roles. 

SPECIAL NOTE: this ballot is for our CHURCHES, and will go to each Senior Pastor of each of our churches.

Our friends at Norwalk Grace are diving into evangelism and disciple making with the hopes of a new church being planted in Boyle Heights. You can see a bit on their Facebook page Heights of Grace

We've heard about it and now we want to get our feet on the ground, have eyes to see, and a time to pray in that soil.  We'll also get some muy bueño Mexican food at iconic local eatery Manuel's Original El Tepeyac Cafe
