Meet Tommy Atkins - 17th June - 7.30pm
Presented by Beyond Eternity Promotions Ltd

‘Meet Tommy Atkins’ takes the audience not just through Tommy’s war, but also his life back home in Britain post war. We learn of his experiences in the trenches – fighting on the Somme, at Passchendaele and Loos; and also of the boredom, the loss and indeed the comradeship. Returning to Britain, Tommy shows us how a generation of returning men were maltreated but how ultimately it was his generation that forced through the foundations of the Welfare State.
From the beginning of the Great War to the end of the Second, Private Tommy Atkins was there.
This is his story.

Starts 7.30 pm

Keeping Up Appearances - 1st to 3rd September - 7.30pm
                                          PROJECT PLAY
is delighted to present yet another absolute classic.

Prepare for continual “Belly-Laughs” as Hyacinth continues her attempts to prove her social superiority, and to gain standing with those she considers upper class. Her attempts as ever are constantly hampered by her lower class extended family, whom she is desperate to hide; but no chance of that here!

Her determination to be involved in the local play is ever-strong and whilst this provides some peace and quite for her long suffering husband, Richard, it is of no consolation to Onslow, Daisy, Rose Emmett and Elizabeth – not to mention anyone one else she encounters!

My Mountain Life by Simon Yates

29th September - 7.30pm
An Illustrated talk with still images & video clips
On the remote Siula Grande in Peru in June 1985, mountaineer Simon Yates found himself in a desperately unenviable position. He was slowly being pulled off the mountain face by his injured partner, Joe Simpson, dangling on the rope 50 metres below. His action in cutting the rope saved both their lives in the epic of survival that followed and with the publication of the book ‘Touching The Void’, film and stage play both climbers became household names.

It was an experience that could have put many off the sport of mountaineering – but not Simon. Over 35 years later, he is still a very active exploratory climber and guide, making several expeditions to the mountains each year. From the Arctic to the Antarctic, Alaska to Central Asia there is hardly a significant range that he has not visited.

Come along and witness Simon’s tireless journey from that mountain in Peru to some of the remotest on the planet and share with him the drama, excitement and beauty of modern, lightweight alpinism. Told with wit, dry humour and lavishly illustrated with images and video collected on his great climbs.

“Simon is a totally engaging speaker, who both entertains and inspires.”

The Unravelling Wilburys

15th October - 7.30pm
The perfect mix of superb musicianship and comedy! The Unravelling Wilburys play the songs of 1980s supergroup ‘The Traveling Wilburys’ and also dip into the back catalogue of each of its’ members; George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne, all the while presenting their own unique slant on what it means to be a tribute band with music for everyone.

This top tribute show is more than just a tribute – they are the complete package! Their great combination of brilliant musicianship and tongue in cheek humour has had rave reviews throughout the UK. Playing the country-rock songs of the Traveling Wilburys, the band also steal some choice numbers from its five iconic members; Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne.

The fabulous Unravelling Wilburys are made up of Sticky Willy, Walter, Thumper, Blind Melon and Honky Tonk Wilbury, the “real” Wilbury brothers, who grew up in an Appalachian shack and first presented their songs in Nashville back in 1987. The show tells the story of how their songs were (allegedly) stolen by Messrs Orbison & Co. at Nashville’s Tootsies Bar and the hard road they had to tread to get ‘em back.

With a set list comprising of songs including ‘Handle With Care’, ‘Tweeter And The Monkey Man’, ‘The Devil’s Been Busy’, ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘Here Comes The Sun’, ‘Mr Blue Sky’, ‘Mr Tambourine Man’
and ‘American Girl’, this is a show not to be missed!

Priscilla Queen of the Desert!

25th to 29th October - 7.30pm
The Athenaeum Masqueraders present

Priscilla Queen of the Desert!

From the 2018 NODA SW District Achievement Award and Best Musical nominated group, who brought hit shows like 9 to 5, Legally Blonde and The Full Monty, The Athenaeum Masqueraders are bringing the drag queens to Warminster for the feel-good extravaganza Priscilla Queen of the Desert in October 2022.

Based on the popular 1994 film, we follow the story of two drag queens and a transsexual who buy a run-down bus (they call it Priscilla) and set out on a road trip across the Australian Outback to perform a drag show at a faraway resort run by one of the drag queens, Tick’s ex-wife. However, Tick is hesitant to tell his friends, Bernadette (a former performing icon whose best days are behind her) and Adam (a rambunctious young troublemaker), his own personal reasons for taking the trip. Along their trip, they encounter an array of Australians, some who aren’t as accepting of their lifestyle while strengthening their own friendship.

This heart-warming, uplifting adventure where all involved find far more than they ever hoped for, is set to a parade of dancefloor favourites including “It’s Raining Men”, “I Will Survive”, “Hot Stuff,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “Go West,” “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” and “I Love The Nightlife”.

This wildly fresh and funny musical is a journey to the heart of FABULOUS!
