An intimate performance Upstairs @ The Ath

It is the 6th of April 1895 and Oscar Wilde waits alone at the Cadogan Hotel. He is awaiting a knock on the door that will bring an arrest warrant with charges of Gross Indecency against him. In this superb one man play Oscar will talk openly about his affair with a young boy of fifteen who’s life will never be the same again. The ruination he has bought down on the head of his wife, Constance and their two boys, and of course the one true love of his life, Lord Alfred ‘Bosie’ Douglas.

Bosie once said to Oscar that when he was not on his pedestal he was boring, in this show Oscar may well stumble from his pedestal but he could never be called boring.Buy tickets

AUDITONS - FEBRUARY 23rd & 24th - 3PM

PRODUCTION DATE - 4th to 6th JULY

"The funniest show to make you cry.”

Set in a small town in Louisiana in the 1980s ‐‐ in the time of REALLY big hair ‐‐ six women gather in Truvy's beauty salon for gossip, friendship, and support.  These women are true steel magnolias: southern belles who are flowery on the outside, but tough as steel inside. The play is alternately hilarious and touching.  The dialogue is sharp and funny and all six roles are interesting and challenging.

ROLES:
  • TRUVY JONES –  to play 35 ‐45 ‐ Owns the beauty salon. Vivacious. Dispenses advice with lots of hairspray.
  • ANELLE DESOTO ‐  to play 18 ‐ 24 ‐ Newly hired assistant. Moves from unsure, to wild and on to religious.
  • CLAIREE BELCHER - to play 60 to late 70’s ‐ Widow of former mayor. Grand dame. Elegant, sophisticated, a true beauty.
  • SHELBY EATENTON – to play 19-22 - the Prettiest girl in town. Loves pink. Strong willed, passionate.
  • M'LYNN EATENTON ‐ to play 40 to 50’s ‐ Shelby's mother. Always knows what’s best, strong, stubborn, the heart of the piece.
  • OUISER (pronounced Weezer) BORDEAUX  ‐ 69 to late 70’s ‐ Wealthy curmudgeon. Tough, Eccentric character.

NOTES FOR THOSE AUDITIONING:
Those auditioning need to be aware that a Southern States of American accent is required, and an effort must be made to use this for the audition. However coaching will be given during the Rehearsal period.
