#03 Newsletter. February 2023.
Hey green dealer,

After receiving 349 full applicants and almost 1.000 confirmations of interest, we are overwhelmed by the interest in becoming local partners of SHARED GREEN DEAL. Evaluators are working hard, and despite the higher than anticipated number of applications, we hope to stay on schedule!

The call came following an exciting Transition Arena event series hosted by DRIFT in which +180 of you changemakers — at local, national and European level — discussed the challenges and opportunities of the green transition.

All in all, it’s been an exciting (and busy) few months for SHARED GREEN DEAL, with more to follow!

1. Social Experiments call for participation: A larger than hoped for sucess
A larger than hoped for success with 349 full applications submitted across the topical streams is cause for celebration within SHARED GREEN DEAL. As the lead on the process, Kinga Kovacs, coordinator at Energy Cities says in our news release:

“The applications received show that not only is there broad support across Europe, but real and concrete actions are already happening in local communities. Going forward, we hope to work with not just the applicants we can select in the end, but all of these local initiatives to expand on their efforts.”

The applications were split in the following way:
The evaluation is expected to take until the end of February with the full results being announced towards the end of March
2. Learning by doing: The transition Arena event as a practical way of co-creative efforts to contribute to Green Deal objectives
More than 180 participants from local, national and EU organisations participated in our Transition Arena event series held by our partner DRIFT. Based on three events (2 online and one in Brussels), participants exchanged practical cases and initiatives with which organisations were addressing the Green Deal priorities and ways to adapt them to the EU policies.

This report, available on our website, shows potential pathways, and highlights some key challenges faced across the different thematic areas. These challenges are some will dive deeper into in the coming months, especially on our LinkedIn Profile.

3. Green Deal priorities at a glance: Take a sneak peek into our Initiatives Database
At the beginning of our project we began collecting examples of local initiatives already making a difference across Europe. As a special treat for you, our newsletter subscribers, we’ve made available the database site with the first 370 entries, while we finalise the complete dataset for upload. Once complete it will include a brief overview of more than 1.000 local initiatives - and we hope to add more in partnership with you as we progress!
