Dear Neighbour,

My heart ached learning about the recent explosion in Beirut, which has been called one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history by experts in the field. It has only added to the distress Lebanon was already facing, economically and politically, and they are remain in our thoughts this week.
Today, the Ontario Government announced the reinvestment of $6 million in proceeds of crime over the next three years to combat gun and gang violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence and harassment, in communities across Ontario. This investment will help police services and community partners implement initiatives on a local level to target the most heinous crimes that put our communities at risk.  With this important announcement, the government is putting the public first, keeping families and communities safe.
The Ontario Government is also providing additional services to families in the Ontario Autism Program to support their child's ongoing learning and development. Foundational Family Services such as family and peer mentoring, caregiver workshops and coaching will be tailored to the unique regional and cultural needs in different communities. These services will build on existing virtual and remote options introduced during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The first phase of Foundational Family Services is launching August 7, 2020. Services will be offered at no cost in a variety of formats with individual and group supports and virtual and in-person sessions. Options may vary during the first phase of implementation as providers continue to expand their services and as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. For example, families may participate in an online group workshop to learn strategies to help toilet train their child and then receive one-on-one clinical follow-up afterward, or they may access coaching sessions to help with managing challenging behaviours. The services are based on a family's changing needs over time and their child's needs, strengths and developmental stage.
COVID-19 initially confined us to our homes. With our collective efforts, we were able to flatten the curve. With the progress we've made so far, I encourage everyone to get outdoors, get active, and participate in the 30x30 challenge, while still following health guidelines. Spend a minimum of 30 minutes outside every day, which is beneficial for our mental and physical health. Take the time out of your busy day and enjoy the great outdoors!

My constituency office is open with limited staff on an appointment only basis. We are able to address your inquiry through a phone call, email, or a Zoom meeting. We continue to ask that you do not attend the office in person to protect both your safety and ours unless it is absolutely necessary.

If you are in need of any assistance, you can make an appointment by calling my constituency office at (416) 781-2395 or email me at Enjoy the outdoors!
Until next week,
