Call for Proposals on Price Discovery - Deadline Nov. 15

The Millstein Center, in partnership with the IRRC Institute, has released a Call for Proposals on The Purpose, Use and Potential Misuse of Stock Prices in the Public Equity Market. The deadline for proposals is November 15, 2013 and selected authors will present their findings at a Columbia University conference tentatively scheduled for September 19, 2014.

Ira Millstein and Holly Gregory Teach at Columbia University

This fall, Ira Millstein and Holly Gregory taught a new course, Corporate Governance: Failures, Successes, and the Impetus for and Impact of Change, at the Columbia Business School.  Students were treated to a variety of perspectives from various guest speakers representing boards, institutional investors and senior management, and the critical role each plays in supporting public corporations and good governance.

Ira Millstein Speaks to PLI

This past September, Ira Millstein spoke on the importance of promoting corporate innovation and economic growth through strategic investment at the Practicing Law Institute's 11th Annual Directors' Institute on Corporate Governance in New York.

IRRCi: Research Competition

The IRRC Institute recently announced its third annual competition for research to examine the interaction of the real economy with investment theory.  Two papers - one academic and one practitioner - each will receive the 2014 IRRC Institute Research Award along with a $10,000 award.  Prof. Rob Jackson, Faculty Co-Director of the Millstein Center, will serve on the selection committee, and winners will be announced at the Millstein Governance Forum at Columbia Law School in June, 2014. 

Award submissions will be accepted through March 31, 2014.

Our colleagues at the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware have released a Call for Papers on board and committee composition and structure, board and/or management succession planning, dual role of the CEO/Chairman, among other topics.
