Earlier this month, I announced that with the love and support of my family, I have accepted an appointment to the Pentagon and would be stepping down from my Senate seat and from my position as Senate President.

After a decade of service in the legislature, today is my final day. It has been the honor of my life to represent my community, and a privilege to serve as Colorado's first Latino Senate President. I leave with immense gratitude and optimism for Colorado's future.
