EuroChoir 2016

Do not miss this unique opportunity!

The 2016 session will be the fifth EuroChoir organised in Italy and will be hosted from 29 July to 8 August 2016 in San Vito al Tagliamento, a city in the north-east of the country, seat of Feniarco, the Italian federation for choirs. This city has a small medieval hamlet, with a castle, beautiful small churches and some important historical buildings. San Vito al Tagliamento is 40 km from the seaside, in Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, very close to Slovenia and Austria. The city is 1 hour far from Venice and 1 hour from Trieste.

The EuroChoir 2016-2017-2018 will be a triennial project developed from a cooperation between the National federations of Italy, The Netherlands and Finland. In 2016 it will be hosted in Italy, in 2017 in Holland and in 2018 in Finland.

Conductors and repertoire
The EuroChoir 2016 will have 2 conductors:
Lorenzo Donati (Italy) and Mikko Sidoroff (Finland).
The repertoire will be a mix of Italian and Scandinavian choral music, with the common theme of the water.

Three official concerts are scheduled on Friday, Saturday and Sunday: two in Italy and one in Slovenia, lasting around one hour each.
More "unofficial" musical performances will happen during the whole session.

EuroChoir is aimed at motivated, open choral singers, aged 18 to approximately 30 who are good sight readers or will prepare the scores in advance, and who can communicate well in English. These are the criteria in the final selection process.
Singers should as far as possible be pre-selected by member organisations of the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat, ideally in SATB quartets, or apply with a letter of support from a member association. The organisations are asked to also support as far as possible the singers financially, covering their participation fee and if possible contribute to their travel expenses. In this case they can do the selection of their singers who will have priority in the selection process.
Wherever this is not possible, singers can also apply directly to the session organisation. The more countries are represented, the more enriching the experience will be for the singers. Since we want to give as many singers as possible the opportunity to participate, singers should normally not participate in more than three sessions.
