Report from CFO or Chief Bean Counter - February 2021

We just ended the month of January.  The financials are available. Click Here  if you would like to view them.

Bean 1:  Year to date we are showing income of $53,755 more than we spent.  This month we are showing $8,775 loss.  Understandable, since bunch of folks prepaid their pledge at the end of the last Calendar year.
Bean 2:  Several people donated the stimulus money.  My deep gratitude to them.  Just a note of housekeeping.  If you plan to donate the entire stimulus check, please first deposit it in your Bank Account and then send us your own check.  Banks will not honor Dept. of Treasury check made out to someone else.
Bean 3:  Budget and Budget Drive: Thanks to our hard-working Program Council, with their input we have completed first round of Budget for the year 2021-22.  The Board voted our goal for the budget drive $369,000.  This assumes that we will be in full swing by July 2021.  This goal is $50,000 more than this year’s budget drive.  If any one is interested in the details, please contact me.  Maureen Nery is in charge of the Budget drive and preparations are being made to achieve this target.
Bean 4: VENMO, Zelle and other unpronounceable acronyms. We seem to have an increased demand for online payment system other than PayPal.  We have begun a study to see what the pluses and minuses are.  Clark Bell is heading up this research.  Stay Tuned.

I want an open communication about the finances, so if you have any comments, question, criticisms, please let me know.  If you are interested in joining or attending Finance Committee, please let me know.  Our next meeting is on Monday, 8th March.  I will send you a zoom link.  The Finance Committee is a fun committee and I promise you, you don’t have to be a geek or nerd to participate.  There are many tasks you can assist us with.
Thanks

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday (in the rain, no less) to say hello and to drop off donations. We collected $425 in Walmart gift cards and checks for the GUUF families in need as well as too many bags to count for United Ministries, but their estimate came to $550 for the goods. Now that’s quite a haul!!! In addition, we received $220 in checks for UM, which we'll use to make an online donation. We're still accepting gift cards and checks for the families in need. If you'd like to send a check, please make it out to GUUF and write "Families in Need" in the memo line. Mail it to GUUF, P.O. Box 4518, Greenville, SC 29608. Thank you for your heart for those in need.

COMMUNITY CARING

JOYS AND SORROWS
2/14/21

We Extend Our Loving Support:

With a candle, we remember Samuel Decorian Thompson fondly known to us as “Cazz.” A former youth group member, Cazz passed away this week. Our hearts go out to his family in this time of loss. Cazz loved to help people, and he had a steady smile and joke for everyone he met. Our youth group was a place of refuge as it is to so many. Rest In Peace, Cazz. We carry you in our hearts. - Kris Beliakoff

We Celebrate With:

My grandson was married last Saturday in Fort Mill. SC. Our daughter, Lipi was raised by the "village of Guuf". Congratulations to Pratt Family. -Bo Boghani
