60 POUNDERS LEAD THE WAY IN VALDEZ HALIBUT DERBY
Anglers returning to Port Valdez did so with sunburns the opening weekend of the Valdez Halibut Derby. Sunny skies and whales putting on a show in Prince William Sound, set the stage for a lot of activity in the Valdez Harbor.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STAFF AND STUDENTS TAKE ON LANDSCAPING PROJECT
Mrs. Norris' and Mr. Robison's science classes have taken on the project of landscaping at the middle school. All of the plants, shrubs and trees that were planted by the contractor have died and are being replaced with compatible trees, scrubs and plants that will thrive in the Valdez community.

SCHOOL BOARD OFFICERS ELECTED
Officer elections were held during the May 9th
School Board meeting. Kathy Todd nominated Joe Prax to be President of the Board. The nomination was seconded and voting was unanimous. Kathy Todd was voted in as Vice President, Dolores Gard was elected Treasurer, and Bill Connell was elected to the Policy Review Committee. All votes were unanimous.
Members of the Policy Review Committee
will be Kathy Todd, Bill Connell, Melissa Cockerham, with Dolores Gard as alternate.
Members of the Curriculum Review Committee
will be Darryl Verfaillie, Dolores Gard and Joe Prax. The curriculum currently being reviewed is social studies.
Members of the Certified Sick Bank Committee
will be Darryl Verfaillie and Bill Connell. Members of the Classified Sick Bank Committee will be Alan Sorum and Dolores Gard.
GMS HAPPENINGS AND FINAL WEEK SCHEDULE
This Tuesday is the GMS Community Appreciation Day, which includes a FREE Car Wash at the MS between 9-1:30am.

Aaron and Tracey Gerrard welcomed Patrick Kenneth Gerrard to the world on May 19th. He weighed 11 lbs and was 22" long. Congratulations!
