During the Holiday Concert, the PTA kicked off a 24hour fundraiser, soliciting funds for the new playground. Within the time allotted the community donated $3009.33!!!  To celebrate, they SLIMED Mrs. Bauman & Mrs. Giusti Friday, Dec 11^th in a school wide assembly.

FIRST TOWN SERIES NORDIC RACES A HUGE SUCCESS

A grand total of 19 happy, healthy, and hardy, Valdez Nordic enthusiasts joined eight members of the VHS ski team for the inaugural Town Series race of the season. The team appreciated the support and added excitement such competition brings to the venue. All proceeds went directly to the ski team wax fund. See results and story HERE

GREENE TAKES SECOND AT STATE

The 2015 high school wrestling season came to a close with the state wrestling tournament held this past weekend at Bartlett High School. Valdez sent two wrestlers to compete in the two day tournament, Salix Woodgate (98 pound division) and Cody Greene (138 pound division).  READ MORE

HELICOPTER CRASHES AFTER TAKEOFF
CVEA - Last Wednesday, December 16^th, two CVEA employees were involved in a helicopter crash at the Valdez Airport as they were taking off to perform an aerial patrol of the transmission line. At roughly 9:30 am, as the helicopter that was contracted to take them on patrol reached approximately 75 feet in altitude, the helicopter lost power resulting in the aircraft free-falling to the ground.

VALDEZ SCHOOL REMINDERS

Schools will be closed December 19th - January 3rd. Monday, January 4th is a Teacher Work Day but NO SCHOOL for students.  School resumes for students Tuesday, January 5th.

GMS Wresting and Girls' Volleyball
begins Tuesday, Jan 5th and is open to all students.  Girls’ volleyball begins Monday, Jan 11th and is open to 7th and 8th grade girls.  Need a current sports physical on file.
