Cast members of Wonderheads meet with audience following show last Wednesday

UAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYS CLOSE GAME, HOPING FOR NATIONAL TITLE
Earlier today, UAA played Lubbock Christian in the 2016 NCAA Div. II National Title Game.  The game was close throughout but in the end, UAA lost with a final score of 73 - 78.

CAPT'N JOE'S CLOSED THIS TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY

Capt'n Joe's will be closed on April 5th and 6th for upgrading dispensers and POS systems.  CJ's Tesoro will remain open- located at the corner of Airport Road and the Richardson Hwy (airport side).  If you have any questions, please call 835-2343.

SEVERED FIBER OPTIC CABLE IN KANSAS LEADS TO CANCELLATION OF ALASKA SCHOOL TESTS
The University of Kansas facility that hosts Alaska's online tests lost internet service last Tuesday after a fiber optic cable was accidentally severed by a construction worker.  Testing was scheduled to resume Thursday but continued disruptions led to the tests being cancelled completely.

COPPER VALLEY TELECOM ANNOUNCES FIBER TO THE HOME NETWORK UPGRADE

Copper Valley Telecom will begin replacing copper telephone lines in Valdez’s residential areas with fiber optic line during the summer of 2016.  There will be two components to the project.  At each house, the company will first replace the copper line that runs underground from the property line to the house.  Then, a technician will install new electronic interfaces for voice and data inside each home.

This weekend, the Valdez High School Track team took a running start at the Big C Relays in the Dome at Anchorage. Valdez took a partial team of 22 boys and girls to compete against the best Alaska had to offer in large and small schools.  READ STORY

This weekend, VHS will host a mini meet for NYO. This year the team consists of around 30 student athletes from both the high school as well as the Gilson Middle School.

WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES THIS SATURDAY

Help stomp out sexual violence and gender violence by participating in Advocates for Victims of Violence 5th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.  This is a campaign where REAL men come together and don a pair of high heels, walk a mile and help bring awareness to the problem of sexual and gender violence.  The walk will be led by Governor Walker.  Proceeds go to victim services. Call AVV at 835-2980 to participate, volunteer, or donate.
