APRIL IS CHILD ABUSE
PREVENTION MONTH

How you can help:
Know the signs of abuse and neglect

One way people can have an impact on the problem of abuse is to know the signs. Some of the major indicators are:
- Sudden change in behavior or schoolwork
- Not receiving medical help for obvious conditions
- Always on edge, waiting for something bad to happen
- Doesn't have adult supervision
- Seems afraid or hesitant to go home

*Note: none of these signs prove that a child is being abused. Any of these behaviors can be found at one time or another. If there's a regular behavior pattern or a combination, it may be time to take another look.
