Here's what's happening this month at Gloucester Rd WI

August 2019

Important: Change of venue this month.
Please note: We have had a last minute venue change as we are unable to meet at St Andrew's Bowling Club this month. We will be meeting instead at:

The Annexe Inn (in the conservatory room at the back)
Seymour Road (at the Nevil Road end)

Come along from 7.30pm, grab a drink from the bar and we will be in the conservatory. You can access the conservatory without going through the bar. Go into the courtyard off Seymour Road, turn right and go around the back of the Annexe.

We will start around 8pm and the meeting will finish at 10pm. Please come along as we will still being doing our craft activity – the classic 1970s trend of macramé! Ali will be taking us through the steps to make a hanging indoor plant holder. If you have any special beads you'd like to use then bring them along and they can be incorporated into the design!

Start thinking about your Denman competition entry

Get Creative – Celebrate Women!

We’ve revamped our competition to win a Denman Bursary.  We want you to celebrate women in any way you like. So it could be about yourself or any woman - family, colleague, famous woman – who inspires you.

So get your creative hats on. You could write a poem, or a short story, or perhaps create a painting or photograph. There are no fixed categories so feel free to use any other imaginative craft you can think of. Let's see how creative our WI can be!

We have three prizes: First prize is £200 and two follow up prizes of £100 for you to spend on a course at Denman. The deadline is the October meeting for judging, with the winners being announced at the quiz in November.
