October 2019

AGM and Butchery

Time to look back over the past year and for this month's activity we'll have Amy from Dave Giles Butchers telling us all about butchery.

Don't forget it's also the deadline for entries for the competition 'Get Creative, Celebrate Women'.


Meet as usual at St. Andrew's Bowling Club, Derby Road from 7.30pm.

We'll have the AGM presentation from Ali, signing in of new committee members and any WI news. Then Amy will do her talk and we'll also have the competition judging. It's going to be a busy meeting!

Get Creative – Celebrate Women!

Don’t forget to bring your entry for our competition. Entries will be judged at this month's meeting but winners will be announced at the charity quiz.

We have three prizes: First prize is £200 and two follow up prizes of £100 for you to spend on a course at Denman. 

Please note entries will need to be anonymous and taken home at the end of the night.

Club News

WIse Birds were victorious at the Glos Old Spot pub quiz and came first place out of 12 teams, winning £27 for our charity.

Knit and Stitch: Meet as usual on the 1st Tuesday of the month at the Welly pub. Speak to Hannah Lowery

Book Group: Next meeting is 23 October and the book is The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris

Charity Nomination for 2019

Thank you for everyone who nominated a charity, we have chosen 1625 Independent People as our charity for 2019.

If anyone has a specific ideas for campaigning or fundraising to help this charity please let the committee know.

Charity Quiz 15th November

Please bring cash along this month to buy tickets to the quiz. Tickets are £5 per person and there will be teams of four. Even if you are not in a team please come along and we can make teams up on the night. Please note spaces are limited this year so get your tickets early!
 

Cakes and Bakes at Meetings

Cake sales are going well this year and we are almost halfway towards our target of £200.

You are very welcome, we still have places available for new members or come along as a visitor. If you want to sign-up please bring your completed membership form and payment.
