Here's what's happening this month at Gloucester Rd WI.

Woman up!

New venue, new time, different subject.

This month we're addressing feminism. What does it mean to be a woman in Bristol? What are the issues affecting us? Are we all feminists? If not, why not? We have three speakers from Bristol Women's Voice engaging with us on the subject.

From this month on, our new home will be Boston Tea Party at 293 Gloucester Road BS7 8PE at the earlier start time of 8pm. We are meeting in the back room. Our room is available from 7pm and food and drink are available until 8pm when we start. There will be a signing in table as usual and we'll be running a raffle too, with some excellent prizes.

We'll also have all the usual business and federation updates. Remember, if you're a member, you can join the secret GRWI Facebook group here, just request to join and you'll be confirmed. There are all the updates and extra chat, plus any offers or notices we get that may be of interest through the month. If you're not on Facebook, anything important is also on the website and at the meetings.

Survive

We're excited to tell you we have invited Survive along so we can hand over the cheque for their share of the funds raised from the cookbook.

We have around 100 books left now so if you're thinking you'd like one for Mother's Day or any other occasion, better be quick! We will have a few for sale at the meeting and they are still available from many retailers on Gloucester Road.

Still a few spaces for 2014 membership!

Well, eight to be precise. If you'd like to join us (or renew still), please bring in cash or a cheque for £34.70 (with your completed membership form if you're joining). Cheques should be made payable to Gloucester Rd WI. Renewals only need to hand in a form if your details have changed. If you haven't yet renewed, you will no longer be on the system.

For a membership form, you can download one here.

And finally...

Room212 on Gloucester Road have started a group called Glos Rd Central, which, as the name suggests, is a collection of the traders from Pigsty Hill towards the upper end of Gloucester Road.

On the May Day bank holiday they are organising Mayfest which will take place on Gloucester Road, outside the shops and along the fabulous high street.

They've asked if we'd like to get involved.

If you're interested in running a stall, giving demonstations, face painting, showing off, whatever, then let us know. They've given us a space to use which can fit about four tables so if it's up your street, let us know. There will be local artists, snacks and drinks and a whole menagerie of activities available to everyone throughout the weekend.

For more info, email us or pop into Room 212 and speak to Sarah.

Visitors and new members for 2014

If you want to join for 2014 (renewed each January) then fill in this membership form and bring it along with a cheque made payable to Gloucester Rd WI or cash for £34.70 to hand in at the door on the evening. You don't need to buy a visitor ticket to join as a new member.

We will be accepting a few visitors, the cost is £4 per meeting, but it is unlikely there will be any space to join if you leave it too late! You can visit up to three times before committing to membership.
