We hear from FoodCycle on, what is food waste? why it matters? and what we can all do to help to reduce food poverty.


Charity for 2017

We are pleased to announce our charity for this year is The Hive a drop-in centre for adults with learning disabilities in Bristol and South Gloucestershire aged 18 and over. We'll be organising plenty of events over the coming year to help raise money for this worthwhile centre. Please check their website and social media to find out what they are about.

Quiz Night

Watch this space for details about our annual quiz night but we are hoping it'll be September again and at The Station Kitchen.

Cakes & Bakes at Meetings

Cake and bakes at meetings Cake is an integral part of the WI, and it's also a fantastic way to raise money for charity. To meet our fundraising target for the year we'll be bringing cakes back to the meeting (and tea and coffee!), but we need bakers! Please sign-up for cakes, savouries, and other bakes.

Watch this space for the next event, fencing! Becky's had a issue with the contact but hopefully will know more by the next meeting.

Essential Oils/Aromatherapy Group

Next meeting Wednesday 5th April, 7.45pm - at Anne's house. Get in touch with Anne if you are interested in attending.

Dinner Club

Tuesday 11 April for 8.30pm (max 10 people)
Get in touch with Rachel for more info/ sign-up at the meeting.
£18 each where we get to try lots of different dishes. 

Looking Ahead

So you can get those seeds in don't forget it's our grow-off later in the year

Categories will be:
  • Jams
  • Home brew
  • Chutneys
  • Floral arrangement
  • Largest fruit or vegetable of its kind
  • Small but perfectly formed
  • Most humorously shaped fruit or vegetable
  • Best example of any 3 fruit or vegetable
  • and of course...Best in Show
All must be with home-grown or foraged produce.

WI News

WI Life has a new editor for 2017!

With an aim to celebrate the WI. They have asked if members have a suggestion for a story to contact them directly using the new Story Suggestion Form.

The Great Get Together

You may have seen in the media last week the launch of the campaign. A weekend of celebrations to mark the anniversary of the tragic murder of Jo Cox. If anyone has any plans to get involved in this event please let us know. #GreatGetTogether #MoreInCommon

We still have a few spaces left for 2017 and we do accept a few visitors at our meetings, which costs £4. You can visit up to three times in 1 year.
