With the changing seasons.....

So many reasons to enjoy Heritage Creek Farm!

We are very excited to offer a NEW Parent/Child Program called Oaks and Acorns that will start this fall and provide many childhood memories for our little ones and their parents or caregivers.  In addition, we have SIX seasonal farm camp days scheduled during the school year for students to experience the changing seasons on the farm and enjoy their days off of school outdoors!  Don't miss our Fall Family Farm Camp Event - Trading Places where families of our campers ages 5-12 will have the opportunity to spend a day on the farm together.  Details on these programs and events are offered in this newsletter.

We want to take this opportunity to thank the more than 400 campers who joined us this summer at farm camp.  Your enthusiasm brightened our summer days and filled our staff with joy!  Our summertime adventures had many golden memories that will warm our hearts as we head into the colder months ahead!

We're working on a video that includes our favorite photos from the 2014 summer season...but in the meantime view two videos from individual sessions in August.  Thank you Brodi Zimmer-Malfliet for capturing our farm-based adventures so beautifully!

Little Seeds Growing Friends Video August 11-13
Kids Love Critter Video - August 11-15

This program is designed for children ages 18 months to 4 years old that are accompanied by a parent or caregiver.  Circle time, verses, movement, nature-based adventures, natural crafting, baking, and animal care will inspire our group play and morning tasks.  Surrounded by the beauty of farm and forest, we will follow the rhythm of the seasons and encourage exploration through the freedom of imaginative play.
Fall Session (10 weeks)  - Fridays
September 19, 26
October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
November 7, 14, 21

The summer days are waning and the autumn season arrives as we begin this session.  Our nature-based activities will include singing seasonal songs, listening to animal stories and puppet plays, dipping leaves in beeswax, making corn husk dolls, carving pumpkins, gathering leaves for leaf crafts, making applesauce and apple muffins, creating necklaces from corn, making lanterns, gathering acorns for our piggy friends, and sharing a pot of “stone soup”.  Grey squirrel will join our farm animals in leading our outdoor adventures as we experience the autumn splendor of color on the farm and watch the animal kingdom prepare for the winter months ahead.
Spring Session (10 weeks)  - Fridays
March 6, 13, 20, 27
April 10, 17, 24 (no session on April 3)
May 1, 8, 15

As winter turns to spring the root babies will peak their little heads through their soil beds and the farm and forest will awaken from its winter slumber. Animal tales (and tails), seasonal songs, puppet plays, nature exploration, gardening activities, baking, and natural crafting will weave the tapestry of our farm experience. Nature-based activities will include planting wheat berries in pots, dying eggs with flower petals and leaves, starting seedlings in the greenhouse, felting wool eggs, and exploring Heritage Creek. We will discover (and uncover) the vegetables that have wintered in our Children’s Garden and help with spring planting. Bunnies, baby chicks, and birds will join with tulips, dandelions, and daffodils to help us celebrate the colorful arrival of spring and lead our wonder-filled adventures on the farm.
