Fall at Heritage Creek Farm Camp & Education Center
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
- Albert Camus
Fall is in the air and the green lane is filled with autumn color!  Over the last two months we have been working on projects to enhance our facility and welcoming various groups to the farm.
In September we had a JR. COUNSELOR APPRECIATION SLEEPOVER. We had lots of fun hanging out by the campfire, playing ghosts in the grave yard and enjoying a farm fresh breakfast after a good night sleep on the farm. Kudos to the great group of teenagers that participated in our IN A NUTSHELL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM and volunteered at HCFC this summer! We appreciate their hard work and dedication!
One of our regular field trip groups this fall has been from the Susquehanna Waldorf School. During the FARMING FRIDAY PROGRAM their students in grades 3-6 have worked in the Children's Garden, learned how to take care of the farm animals and completed various building projects. We also had a wonderful group of campers for our OCTOBER SEASONAL FARM CAMP held on October 13th (Columbus Holiday).
We invite everyone to join us for our COMMUNITY LANTERN WALK being held next month on November 8th.  We also look forward to welcoming campers back to the farm for one last time in 2014 for our THANKSGIVING STICK SEASONAL CAMP DAY scheduled for December 1st.  Please visit our table at the GIFTS THAT GIVE HOPE event on November 22nd.  Details on the upcoming events and the exciting new upgrades to our facility can be found below.
During our Seasonal Camp Day on October 13th we dipped leaves in beeswax, gathered around the camp fire, had a delightful seasonal dirt-to-dinner sampling at "snunchtime" and enjoyed playing outside! Our final seasonal farm camp day of 2014 is scheduled for December 1st!
Many thanks to the hard work of our Garden Coordinator - Danni Reimer and our grant from Seeds of Change our Children's Garden continues to produce a beautiful array of harvest crops.
This is COB CENTRAL - a new gathering space being constructed around our cob oven.
The cubby space in our outdoor classroom has been beautified and updated!
We have a lovely time with some of our fantastic JCs at our 2014 Jr. Counselor Appreciation Sleepover Event!
Please join us for our community lantern walk on Saturday, November 8th at 4 pm.
From 4-5 pm you will have the opportunity to make a paper lantern.  Around 5 pm we will gather to light our lanterns for our walk through the green lane.  The glow from our lanterns will lead our way as we sing seasonal songs. Following the lantern walk we will enjoy a seasonal potluck in the pavilion.  Please bring lanterns if you will not be making one at the farm, seasonal nut-free dish to share, lawn chairs or blankets for sitting around the camp fire, and place settings for your family.  To request additional information or to RSVP please email us at:
The event is free.  Donations from the HCFC wishlist will be graciously accepted. Please feel free to invite your friends to join us for this special seasonal event!
