Dear Supporter,

Wow, what a super start to the new school year with the opening ceremony of Holy Child Kindergarten Centre of Excellence and the completion of the first of four schools under construction this year. We also began piloting two new teacher training initiatives.
Transformational Teacher Training Programme Update

September brought a new group of student teachers from OLA and Holy Child Colleges of Education, to join our Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training programme as part of their final year practical teaching placements. We also welcomed back practising teachers from 40 schools, for their second year of training.

Holy Child Kindergarten Centre of Excellence Opening Ceremony

Holy Child Kindergarten Centre of Excellence had its official opening ceremony in October. It was a fabulous event attended by the Catholic Bishop of Sekondi/Takoradi and Regional Director of Education, which celebrated the new school and also our fantastic construction team. We were also delighted to have two of our trustees, Helen Varma and Ian Bauckham, in Ghana for the event, and to be joined on the day by representatives from several of our corporate partners.

We work closely with Holy Child College of Education, tutors from the college are part of the teacher training team, and student teachers at the college join our teacher training programme as part of their final year's practical placements. The Centre of Excellence is built on the Holy Child College campus and will not only provide quality facilities to local kindergarten pupils, but will also showcase an optimal learning environment to support the teacher training programme, exposing student teachers at the College to practical experience early on in their studies.
Is it too early to talk about Christmas?

It's our 6th year taking part in the amazing Big Give Christmas Challenge.

This year the challenge starts a little earlier to coincide with #GivingTuesday, on the 29 November and is open for donations from 12 noon.  If you were thinking about donating to support our work in Ghana, the Big Give Christmas Challenge is a fabulous time to do it, as you can double your donation, and double the impact it will make on children's futures in Ghana.

This year we are raising funds to help deliver our Brighter Futures Programme in the Central Region, aiming to train 54 classroom teachers, 98 student teachers and build two schools.

We will be in touch later this month with more details about how to get involved with the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

Thank you for your continued support

Best wishes

Dominic Bond, Managing Director
