ISCOS honours volunteers, partners at Appreciation Dinner


ISCOS recognised key volunteers and corporate partners at its annual Appreciation Dinner held on 19 October at Bountiful Restaurant. Nearly 100 ISCOS guests graced the occasion.

Among those who received special recognitions were programme sponsors Baker & McKenzie.Wong & Leow and Network for Electronic Transfers, key donors Thomson CC, Esun International and Institute for Career Development. Volunteer Prem Tarani Premchand Deepchand received the Oustanding Contribution Award.

“Because of our partners and volunteers, ISCOS was able to touch thousands of lives, empower our members, strengthen family relationships and inspire hundreds of children,” said Mr Vernon Khoo, Chairman of ISCOS Board of Directors.

Generous sponsors have contributed to make the event a success: 77th Street, Asiawide Franchise, Epi Treatz, Food Empire, iFly Singapore, JIG Global, Kazbar, Mandarin Oriental Singapore, Mr Alvin Goh, Mr SC Kan, Picotin, Seagate, Spaboutique and Underwater World Singapore.

ISCOS runners participate in Yellow Ribbon Run


RUNFREE Club runners which comprised ISCOS members and volunteers participated in the Yellow Ribbon Run on 16 September. They also joined the last leg in the pre-event run with Madam Jenap Said, or “Catwoman”, in an effort to raise public awareness. The run culminated at Changi Prison, which saw some 10,000 runners taking part in it.

The Yellow Ribbon Run is an event organised by the Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-offenders (CARE) Network, and is supported by ISCOS. It serves as a platform for ISCOS members and volunteers to help rally community support and acceptance for ex-offenders.

BMWL, NETS bag SE Corporate Award


ISCOS supporters Baker & McKenzie.Wong & Leow (BMWL) and Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS) received special recognition from Mr Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Social and Family Development & Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence at the Social Collab 2012 organised by Social Enterprise Association.

Held on 2 November at School of the Arts, both firms received the SE Association Corporate Award (Silver) for their outstanding support to social enterprises like ISCOS.

“We are indeed greatly encouraged by the award. We have been enriched by the experience working with ISCOS the past few years, and we look forward to future collaboration with ISCOS towards contributing to the beneficiaries and making a difference,” said Ms Celeste Ang, Associate Principal, BMWL.

FUNtastic Race brings families closer


ISCOS collaborated with Our Giving Hearts (OGH), a local volunteer group, to organise a family bonding activity at Gardens by the Bay on 3 November.

Dubbed the “FUNtastic Race”, the event aimed at fostering relationships within the family of ISCOS members. A total of 17 families enjoyed a fulfilling weekend, thanks to the efforts of OGH volunteers.

“We are glad that OGH was given a chance to work with ISCOS on this Family Bonding activity. It was a great experience for us and all our volunteers, especially seeing all the participants working very hard together as a family to compete in the games. This is really a good way for participants to bond as a family.” said Mr Kavin Ang, one of the founding members of Our Giving Hearts.
