NEWS FROM THE BOARD
News From The Board

Greetings All,

Thank you to all who have filled out the member survey posted on our Facebook page.  If you haven't done so, there is still time to have your voice heard, please fill it out.  Your comments will help shape NIWA in the coming months.

Link to survey:   www.niwawriters.net/survey

One of the common comments made so far in the survey is that members are interested in is finding out what marketing strategies work.  One way we can address this is by members posting on our Facebook page about how their event went.  Answer questions like:
  • Going into the event, how many books would you have to sell to recoop your entry fee?
  • What was the attendence like at the event?
  • How many books did you sell?
  • What genres did the best?
  • Was it worth it and why or why not?
The main point to remember is the more specific you can be, the more benefit it is to the members.

Other common comments were about editing, cover design and getting beta readers.  Also there were comments about how do you plan and conduct a book launch, how do you get and conduct a book signing.  We will be looking to members who have success in these areas to help answer these questions, possibly by providing a step-by-step outline.

There have been concerns raised that there isn't the support for Washington events vs Oregon events.  The Board is taking these comments seriously.  From the survey, there appears to be an equal amount of interest in both states.  Rest assured, we are looking into ways to remedy the situation and provide more support.  If you are in Washington and want to run a table at an event, let us know.  Send me an email (president@niwawriters.net) or message me on Facebook well in advance and we can see what we can do to help.

Keep up the good writing everyone and posting on Facebook.

Sincerely,
James McCracken
President NIWA
