Tigard Library Panel (OR)         2
Emerald City Comic Con (WA)   2

There were several events that only had 1 person willing to help organize and run the event.

What is clear by these numbers is while there is plenty of interest in participating in events, there are only a few who are willing to organize them.  I can understand that.  We are all dealing with work or personal issues of one kind or another.  However, and I'm talking to myself as well, it's great to be a good writer and have a stellar cover, but the reality is: books won't sell themselves.  Even famous people have to put themselves out there and do interviews, make appearances at events, do signings, etc.  Sure, famous people have agents, but agents don't do those things.  It's up to the author.

That's all well and good but my book doesn't fit at SF Cons, you may say.  True, mine don't either.  But there are events in which you can participate that aren't genre specific.  Why not give them a try?  Put yourself out there, what's the worst thing that could happen - you don't sell any books - but at least you have met the public and now they know your name and your works.

In the coming months the board will be putting out information on how to arrange for a book launch, reading/signing, and panel discussion.  If you are interested and need help, we are here, just ask.  Also, there will be more information made available to you about the mechanics of publishing.  Are you reading our bi-monthly Blog posts?
