Happy Thanksgiving

Please Consider Making

a special donation before the end of the year. Our average income for the last three years is down 7% compared to the last ten years, 13% if we just look at this past year; and the currency exchange rate went down about 10% this year, so you can imagine the pinch we feel. Can we say "ouch"? These figures include money for an injured MK or needy refugees that were donated through my account. We realize diminishing income is a common experience for missionaries after disappearing for about a decade. Pray with us as we seek help with fundraising and financial management to get a better start on our second decade here.

Fundraising Visit April & May

I've said this already but I'm planning to visit the States for a fundraising trip next spring. I will try to visit supporters I haven't visited the last few years, but please let me know if you or a potential supporter would be interested in a visit. FB me (paulmkim) or email me at My goal is to increasing our funding, so that it will approach this sustainable level over the next few years. This means not only recovering the 13% decrease in income but almost doubling it. I'd be happy if we can at least recover and maybe add about 20% in pledges and new donors when I visit next spring. My feeling is that this could be my last fundraising visit planned without savings. "This could be the last year of donations" would be another way of putting it, unless I increase support next spring.

OLC Online is going great! It's really exciting to be able to teach the Bible online. It can't replace physical meetings, but it is a life saver for those who aren't able to attend physically. I have friends in the east coast who are also willing to volunteer, so after a few months of experience and experimenting I will open it up to my other Thai friends. This online program could outgrow the current Bible study network soon. About 3-5 of my Thai friends in the OLC network are planning to visit California for two weeks in April. I'll update you as we begin scheduling our time there.

General Updates

  • The Sri Lankan family is still waiting for 3 more sponsors in Canada; and Jay, the husband, is enjoying serving as the Altamira community officer for Sri Lankan refugees in Bangkok.
  • Sam, Missionary Ha's son, is working hard to regain feelings and movement in his right hand.
  • My secret FB page! Give me your email address for me to add you if you want to know more of my thoughts and experiences on missions.
  • Consider making a financial donation to Global HopeHelpLive and Courageous Kitchen. HL India needs to raise $20,000 for a café to serve as a ministry base in Nagaland, and CK has a new program in Bangkok.
  • Fine Print: The list of email addresses on this official newsletter is separate from the one in my frequent updates; you can (un)subscribe (from)to this list and my frequent updates list separately. For the record, see the past newsletter from 07/31/2017 "Reinventing the Past" for a disclaimer about "Confucian" GP and my relationship with Chonburi Center. And let me know if you're good with MailChimp and know how to reduce the line spacing here.

Please Pray that

  1. God will help me plan an effective fundraising trip next spring, to trust in His provision and for me to claim the trust with action.
  2. Our family and friends will be thankful as we reflect on God's goodness this year.
