Local Yogis Go Big in November!

welcome to our first newsletter

Welcome to our first edition of the Off the Mat Philly & South Jersey newletter. We are excited to start to organize and have a means of communication to start to engage the local community. Our mission is to spread awareness and build a community of engaged yogis in our surrounding areas; to support local projects and yogis who are taking their practice "off the mat"; to embody the vision of Off the Mat, Into the World by cultivating connection, provide valuable resources and trainings, and support transformation in our own backyard. Please forward this email to anyone who is interested in getting involved! Namaste.

what's happening!

south jersey yogis take it off the mat to fight hunger: november 1-30
lululemon sagemore & participating studios

91,000 people in South Jersey are hungry. 35,000 of those are children. YOU can help! Especially after Hurricane Sandy, it is imperative we restock the Food Bank for families in need of assistance! Support our food drive and help make a difference in your community. Please join us for month long food drive & community yoga classes. Drop off canned goods at participating studios from 11/1-11/30 and stop in for free class at Lululemon Sagemore.

Yoga studios throughout South Jersey are dedicating the whole month of November to help fight hunger in their community. Starting November 1st, participating studios will work together to collect food donations and raise awareness for the Food Bank of South Jersey. lululemon athletica Sagemore will be offering free community yoga classes every Sunday through November taught by local South Jersey yoga teachers. We hope to inspire yogis to take their practice off the mat and help their local community with this urgent problem of hunger.

All Classes located at Lululemon Athletic Sagemore, 500 Rt 73, Marlton, NJ: 9:30-10:30am

brittany walrath
Brittany Wallrath, RYT, began practicing yoga as a way to ease pain in her neck and shoulders due to a car accident. Yoga quickly turned into a passion and in 2010 she enrolled in a Hatha yoga course at Temple University. She began her teacher training with YogaFit and started teaching right away to family and friends. She completed her 200 hours of Vinyasa yoga training through Dhyana Yoga in Philadelphia, PA. Her passion and love for yoga comes from the inspiration, relaxation and inner-knowledge it brings.

Brittany organized this month's colloboration between lululemon Sagemore and South Jersey Food Bank. Learn more about her at or follow her on Twitter @yogiBrittany

alexander conover
Allie Conover, founder of Grace & Glory Yoga, begin practicing yoga at the demand of a friend to heal a rowing injury and an eating disorder in high school. She completed her first teacher training  in hatha yoga at the age of 20. It wasn't until a move to Jacksonville, Florida in 2009 and a cancelled gym yoga class that walked into her very first Baptiste Affliate Studio, MBody Yoga, that Allie would wake up to both her truth and her true calling: power yoga.  She believes in the elevation of community, that yoga meets you where you are regaurdless of physical or spiritual condiiton, and that we are all designed to be divinely powerful and joyful... we need only to be shaken first.

Allie organized this month's Yoga Rave in Atlantic City. You can find a schedule of Allie's classes, workshops and GGY's community events at or follow her on Twitter @GraceandGloryYo
