NEME News

September 2022

Dear friends,

Greetings in the beautiful name of the Lord! I hope you are all doing well during this gorgeous month.  A few updates from NEME:

Retreat
The NEME Fall Retreat is now just a month away. We are thrilled with the diversity of the group that the Lord is gathering for this special meeting, and we are looking forward to being together in person. The people coming have vast and diverse experiences. Our goal is to pray and fellowship together, share about NEME’s work, and see what potential there is for work we can do together in the future. There are still a few open spaces, but the window is closing quickly. The registration deadline is October seventh.

Webinar
Due to extenuating circumstances, we’ve moved our upcoming webinar series exploring the notion of apartheid and Israel to November 3rd and 10th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. The webinar will explore questions such as: Does Israel’s treatment of Palestinians amount to apartheid, as several major organizations have declared recently? Or does such talk delegitimize the State of Israel, ignore the security threats it faces, and needlessly inflame the region? This two-part webinar will consider why the question of apartheid is so polarizing, what is happening on the ground in the Holy Land, and how Christians might respond as non-partisan agents who support a just peace. We will be in touch with more details as we get closer. Please "like" us on social media for current updates.

Iran
Please hold Iran in your prayers. Following the killing of Mahsa Amini, protests continue to rock the nation as women demonstrate for freedom, safety and equality.

Peacemaking
Speaking of justice and peacemaking, some of our NEME affiliated folks are involved in other great ministries. Please see the podcast links below.

Thanks again for your interest in NEME and your desire to make a difference in the Middle East. May the Lord richly bless you.

In faith, hope and love,

Peacemaking Podcasts
from friends of NEME

Global Immersion is launching a new series called Peace in Politics (just in time for a new election season), exploring how we can become everyday peacemakers in and out of the voting booth.

Our friends at Peace Catalyst recently hosted a wonderful conversation between theologian Miroslav Volf and Muslim peacemaker Hurunnessa Fariad:  What it means to embrace the other. We think you’ll love this!
