Vendor Applications Open Today

The Vendor Market is at the heart of our annual festival and we want it to inspire and delight our visitors. We are looking for fibres either raw or processed, high quality crafts made with natural fibres, tools for fibre artists, and supplies for fibre farmers. We may include other items that we believe to be of interest to Festival visitors but our primary focus is on natural fibres and the fibre arts.

The application form is on our webpage here.

2017 Pattern Collection
Open Call for Design Submissions

Curator Ash Alberg is now accepting designs submissions for our pattern collection. The focus of the collection is on accessories and on using local resources as much as possible. We are excited to watch this project develop and to see the results of the knit-a-long appear at the Festival.
Check out the details on how to get involved on the website here. Act fast! The deadline for pattern submissions is March 21.

Handspun Skein Competition

Our 2016 Handspun Skeins Competition was a big success.  Many attendees admired the entries on display and imagined the skeins they might submit.
It’s easy to submit!  We invite all skill levels to participate.  Check out the technical details on the festival website. We’ll post updates soon. Here are the basics you’ll need to know as you spin your fibre:
1) We offer many categories for judging: Singles, 2-ply, 3 or more plies, and Novelty/Art yarns.  We also have a category for yarns spun from a raw wool fleece, alpaca blanket, or other raw animal fibre (Calling all Angora rabbit keepers… Or, how furry is your dog?).
2) For each category, the fibre must be at least half animal fibre.  (We prefer animal fibres because these are currently the most common for Manitoba spinners.)  For the raw-source category, the yarn must be entirely from a single source (one animal).
3) Please spin at least 2oz of fibre.
That's all you need to know as you begin your spinning projects! Go fondle some fibre and spin some yarns. Local Master Spinner Jo-Anne Tabachek is our judge. We look forward to seeing what you share with our fibre arts community!
