Scape Cutting Time is Here!

If you planted hardneck varieties last year you should be seeing scapes forming on your plants. A scape is a slender flower stalk. If left on the plant it will form a flower. But cutting the scape will direct the plant to send its energy to the bulb which will increase its size. When the scape curls around a time or two it is ready to cut. Scapes have great garlic flavor! They can be added to all sorts of dishes, make great pesto, and are wonderful beer-battered and fried. Don't miss out on your extra garlic harvest. Haven't planted any hardneck garlic yet? Check out the hardneck varieties on our website or contact us. We have scapes available for shipment.
