“We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is the strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.”

Colossians 1:11–12 (MSG)

Congratulations! This is the 365th Blessing of The Father Devotional! It has been a joy writing these devotionals and hearing how your time with the Father and Jesus is changing your life.
In this verse, Paul is praying over the new church he just planted in Colossae, and specifically, he is praying for Epaphras, one of his observers and spiritual children. Paul is encouraging his young protégé to endure, not with his human strength, but through the glory-strength that God gave him (and all of us!) through the Holy Spirit. Epaphras was dealing with a culture that was trying to mix Christ’s message with new-age philosophy and occultism. People wanted their own self-made spirituality and were unwilling to submit their lives to the supremacy of Christ. Sound familiar, right? It’s like the many people in today’s culture who want to meet God on their terms and not His.

A. M. Hunter puts it like this: “To all who would ‘improve’ Christianity by admixing it with spiritualism or occultism or any such extra, it utters its warning: ‘What Christ is and has done for us is enough for salvation. We need no extra mediators, or taboos, or ascetics. To piece out the gospel with the rags and tatters of alien cults is not to enrich but to corrupt it.’”

Paul promises that if we lean into Christ we will receive a strength that endures the unendurable; Paul promises this strength will spill over into joy because we will experience Christ’s supernatural grace no matter how high the mountain or how low the valley. We are assured that Christ’s presence will be with us and we will never have to face our trials alone. We must remember: The Father strengthens us through His power, not ours!

Father, I am so grateful that Christ is in me, and that Your power through the Holy Spirit can do more in my life in a single moment than an entire lifetime of my human attempts to save myself. I am so grateful that I no longer have my own spirituality, which is powerless to change me. With You, I have the glory-strength of God flowing through my life, and it enables me to live and act for You and Your will. With You, nothing will be impossible! In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pastor Ed Tandy McGlasson has brought hope and healing to parents and children suffering from divorce, mixed family difficulties, parent/children relationship problems, single parent challenges and the loneliness of orphans and widows.
Through 20 years of healing ministry to families Pastor Ed has discovered a powerful solution to a common cause of family problems.  He has discovered a solution to the fatherless wound.  Most family problems can be traced back generations to wounds caused by different types of fatherlessness.  Pastor Ed's definition of fatherlessness includes fathers and mothers that were emotionally or physically abusive, emotionally or physically absent, or lacked the ability to love their children because they were not loved and blessed by their fathers.

Today there is hope for families found in Pastor Ed’s latest healing program, The Blessing of the Father For Families.  Please log on to to learn more about how to heal your family.
