On June 5 Australia's Attorney General announced that the Government would no longer refer to East Jerusalem by its correct legal term: “Occupied East Jerusalem”. CAMPAIGN:
Support US Presbyterian Church to divest

The Middle East Issues Committee at the Presbyterian Church’s general assembly in the USA has just voted  to recommend divesting from three companies that do business with the Israeli military (read more). This decision now goes to the full plenary for a decision. Sign the letter promoted by Jewish Voice for Peace supporting divestment.

In Gaza today, the list of zero-stock medicines (essential medicines with less than a month’s supply) now stands at almost a third of all medicines. Read more

Israel into overdrive over kidnapping escalates
Israel claims that Hamas is responsible for the abduction of three teenagers from Israel. It asks the Palestinian Authority to undertake responsibility for the safe return of three teenagers kidnapped in the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority has “condemned the Israeli arrest campaign across the West Bank and airstrikes against the Gaza Strip, denouncing the "collective punishment of the Palestinian people" by Israeli forces. Thousands of Palestinians cannot get to work and hundreds have been arrested. For more

Equitable distribution of water is the key issue in West Bank and Gaza
“The Palestinian people thirst for water justice” says the Ecumenical Water Network following a fact-finding group that this month visited Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza to better understand the critical issues of water and sanitation in Palestine. Read more.

United Methodist Church Divests from G4S
Amid concerns raised by church justice advocates, United Methodist Church Pensions sells all stocks in G4S, a supplier of security services and equipment for Israeli prisons, settlements, checkpoints and Separation Wall. This is the largest Mainline Protestant Church to divest from a company doing business with the Israeli Occupation. Read more.

Killing of teens may be a war crime
Human Rights Watch considers that the killing of two unarmed Palestinian teenagers by Israeli forces on May 15 could amount to war crimes. Read more

De Klerk warns Israel of apartheid
South Africa’s last president under white rule has recently warned that in the absence of peace Israel risks “complete apartheid.”  Read more

Significant European countries pressurize Israel on settlements
Israeli newspaper reported today that five European countries put pressure on Israel to freeze the latest new settlement constructions which were approved in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. For more

Children blindfolded and beaten at the hands of the Palestinian Authority
A report from the Defence for Children International shows widespread mistreatment of children by the Palestinian Authority. According to figures from the Palestinian police force, PA security forces arrested 2,455 children in 2013, the majority of whom were boys.Read more.

UN SG worried about health of hunger-striking Palestinians
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has voiced concerns about the worsening health of Palestinian hunger strikers in Israeli detention and demanded that they either be formally charged or released immediately. Read more

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation divest all $184 million of its holdings in G4S following an international, Palestinian-led campaign urging the foundation to end investments in the British private security company that helps run Israeli prisons that hold and torture Palestinian prisoners.
