It's exciting to welcome back Kavisha Mazzella to Trinity Sessions. Replacing Doug Ashdown (having shoulder surgery) as support will be, at the request of Kavisha, The Baker Suite in duo mode. Doug will be there to do a couple of songs with Kavisha.
Kavisha is  an ARIA award winning singer songwriter who does not believe in world music. It's just music!!! Music unites us  and Kavisha  enjoys crossing musical boundaries and create community experiences in her shows. She first came to national attention with her appearance in the Franco Di Chiera documentary " Joys Of The Women" in 1993.
Drawing on her rich Mediterranean heritage she creates contemporary songs with haunting melody and lyrical depth. While her early influences come from the singer songwriter tradition of the likes of Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, over time due to her passion for Italian regional folksong, She has absorbed influences from the East with its modal tones and ecstatic singing styles of  Indian, Arabic, Southern Italian and Gypsy influenced song and links these with western folk music influences.
She is a winner of various awards including the 1996 Greenroom Theatre award for musical direction for Emma Celebrazione! The 1998 ARIA  award for her album " Fisherman's Daughter" as best world album, the Italia Nel Mondo Award in 2000 for her contribution to the sharing of Italian Culture in Australia through setting up of Italian Women's choirs and West Australia Music Industry awards for songwriting. In 2004 she was awarded PORT FAIRY ARTIST OF THE YEAR. In 2008 Kavisha was awarded Multicultural Commission Excellence award. In 2011 Kavisha was awarded an Order of Australia for her contribution to singing ,song writing and reflecting the experiences of refugees, indigenous and multicultural communities in performance.
" Kavisha has a fantastic dynamic range with great colour and sweetness and she is not afraid to use it . I particularly love the vocalising she does throughout the singing of her songs . It brings a wild earthiness to the music which roots it firmly in the tradition. And tradition she has in plenty . She is obviously proud of her Australian immigrant heritage and uses the Italian and Irish of this to great effect in her powerful songwriting. Her haunting, unique version of " she moves through the fair ", is enough to make your hair stand on the back of your head..." Tony Caniffe , presenter of "The Raw Bar " R.T.E. Cork Radio. Ireland
"Kavisha's new album of centuries-old Italian folk songs is a beautiful thing to hear - a great vehicle for these songs of the heart that have stood the test of time. She plays guitar, mandolin and accordion and the spare production lets her voice naturally shine." Lucky Oceans ,ABC  Radio National Weekly Planet.

The Baker Suite: art-folk-pop, french-cafe and cinematic storytelling, built around a warm combination of acoustic guitar and parisian-esque accordion.
'Minor masterpieces that blend folk, country, blues and jazz speckled with global allusions sit beside quirky pop songs suggestive of Paul Simon'  The Australian 4 Stars

Kavisha is also running a Sunday afternoon "Empty Sky”  meditation session in song and silence on Sunday, August 9th starting at 3pm (please be there and seated by 2.45pm) and finishing at 4.30pm. Empty Sky is being held in the lovely chapel in Sacred Heart College Middle School at 28 Percy Ave,  Mitchell Park. Tea, coffee and nibbles will be served after the session. $15 or $10 unwaged.
“Empty Sky” invites you to experience the Empty Sky within, through the Gateway of Music. Kavisha will guide you with her song and smile, into a space of joy and meditation.

Live favourites and triple ARIA award winners The Audreys released their fourth studio album ‘Til My Tears Roll Away’ in 2014 to high praise. A tougher, grittier offering than their earlier records, with electric guitars fuzzing and wailing and Taasha Coates’ stunning vocals at the fore, Rolling Stone called the album “a record of abandon and grace”, and Stack Magazine "another winner.”
“Engaging and relaxed as they present, The Audreys are an intense bit of gear. They don’t tour incessantly, like their lives depend on it. But when they’ve got something to say, like their hot new album, ’Til My Tears Roll Away, they hit the road with felonious intentions to make a serious impression. A bit of  folk, a pinch of blues and an exquisite layer of  rock’n’roll. It’s an original recipe made by perfectionists and cooked to perfection.”
And now they're coming back to Trinity Sessions for a very special intimate show to wind up their nation wide tour celebrating the vinyl release of 'Til My Tears Roll Away'. Their adoring fans were squeezed into the Spiegeltent during the Fringe so hurry and get your tickets for this full length performance at the very comfortable Trinity Sessions.

Supporting The Audreys will be Timberwolf for the first time at Trinity Sessions. Timberwolf is the modern folk project and stage name for Chris Panousakis, a blues/rock inspired singer/songwriter from Adelaide. Putting his physiotherapy career on the backburner, Chris has taken a new direction to focus on his music. With strong roots in 60s/70s blues and rock, his take on modern folk music emulates soulful but cryptic songwriting, complemented by a melodic blend of guitars and vocals. Played at WOMAD 2015 to great reviews.

'Kill It Yourself’ is the anticipated second album from Jess Ribeiro, arriving in August 2015 via Barely Dressed and Remote Control Records. To celebrate the release, Jess Ribeiro and band have announced an Australian tour for September. It is exciting for Trinity Sessions to present Jess's new album to Adelaide in intimate concert style.
No stranger to critical acclaim, Ribeiro’s 2012 debut, My Little River, was awarded ABC Radio National Album of the Year, Best Country Album at the 2012 AIR Awards and was shortlisted for the prestigious Australian Music Prize.
The new album is recorded in collaboration with Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey) and is representative of a significant and exciting departure from Jess’s folk-country roots.
Comparisons have been made to Cat Power "in the way Ribeiro slouches into songs and then almost surreptitiously draws you into them: rather than coming at you, you come to her, wanting to know what she is saying and curious about the song hovering before you...Jess Ribeiro and the men of the Bone Collectors conduct themselves with grace but leave you more than a little bit tender to the touch." Sydney Morning Herald.

Check out Jess Ribeiro on Rockwiz here and her new single here.

Koral & The Goodbye Horses is the soundtrack to long nights spent on the open road, travelling heavy with heartbreak as you leave everything behind. Their new EP Nocturnes has just been released so here's your chance to hear it live at Trinity Sessions.
"...Adelaide’s Koral & The Goodbye Horses straddle a line between giants like PJ Harvey and more contemporary voices like Ainslie Wills and Anna Calvi" - Rip It Up
“Koral’s performance will reaffirm your faith in the power of live music...” – CityMag

Trinity Sessions is pleased to present three Adelaide bands on the one bill; continuing our aim to present local live original music in a venue where the audience comes to listen.
Born in the Riverland, Kelly Menhennett left her career as a winemaker to be a full time musician and since then she's gone on to win the national Telstra Road To Discovery award for her songwriting, independently released 2 full length albums and performed at iconic national and international festivals both solo and with her band. She has performed a number of times at Trinity Sessions supporting international artists like Patty Larkin and Sandi Thom, but it has always been a desire to have her perform with her band, and now we have been able to do it. Always an engaging and inspiring performer but with the full band there is a heightened level of excitement and passion that blows audiences away.
In late 2010, Kelly released her debut album “World Of Mine”, receiving great response by fans and media and named one of the top 10 albums for 2011 by Rhythms magazine’s Sue Barrett.  Last year she released her 2nd album, "Small Dreams", an album recorded live over 3 days in Mr Lemons Studio in Nashville with producer Neilson Hubbard and an all-star band including the likes of Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket) and Kim Richey. In contrast to her first album, Small Dreams is a little darker, a little dirtier and focuses more on her love of Americana music which has inspired her for a lifetime. Also well received by fans and media, Small Dreams was named a top 3 release for 2014 by Rhythms Magazine.
Cosmo Thundercat make garage-folk-pop music that glimmers with true, raw and honest personality. Described as a cross between Ryan Adams, Tom Petty and Angus Stone, the band create a captivating landscape progressing through upbeat, soulful, garage-pop to darker, acoustic and alt-country rhythms. The band has garnered attention from local and national radio, receiving uplifting reviews. They were listed in Rip It Up Magazine's 'Industry Picks' as a band to watch in 2014 and their recent single ‘Cigarette Lover' has received high rotation on Triple J Unearthed, joining the 'Best New Music' playlist.
"If it were possible to capture the essence of sunshine through music, these chaps might just about done it” (Music Minute, NY).
Max Savage blends mystic lyricism with rock and roll swagger to create a live show that moves effortlessly between country, blues and soul. Evoking landscape, memory and a sense of the profound, his songs are filled with tenderness, heartache, and the bitterness of loss. Max and his band The False Idols brought their carefully blending vintage rhythm and blues sensibilities and Max's intricately crafted songs to the WOMAD stage this year.
