DHARMA RAKSHAK AWARD

I am extremely proud to have received the prestigious Dharma Rakshak Award from the National Council of Hindu Temples (UK) in recognition of my work supporting the Dharmic community.

My commitment to the Dharmic community has been demonstrated in setting up the Hindu All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) while I was MP for Harrow East, helping to launch the think tank 'Dharmic Ideas & Policy Foundation' (DIPF), making robust contributions in debates in Parliament on behalf of Kashmiri Pandits and by strongly opposing caste discrimination legislation. If elected this May, I will continue my extensive track record of being a strongly supportive voice in Westminster for the Hindu community at large.

DAVID CAMERON VISITS
EDGWARE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

I brought the Prime Minister, David Cameron, to the Weston Homes 'Aura' development in Edgware, where more than half the purchasers have been first-time buyers and 21% of these have benefited from the Conservative Party’s 'help to buy' initiative. 12% of homes on the site will also go to a housing association to provide homes for people on low incomes.

The Conservative Party has the right policies to help people out of welfare dependency and onto the property ladder, as local developments like this one are proving, and people in Harrow are now seeing the benefits. Our manifesto commitment to extend Right to Buy to Housing Association tenants means that around 4000 families on low incomes in Harrow will be given the chance to own their own home. We’ve also committed to building 100,000 new homes, all twenty percent cheaper than normal, with the crucial stipulation that they will be for first time buyers under the age of 40 so buy-to-let landlords or wealthy foreigners won't be able to snap them up.

BORIS JOHNSON
HEADS TO BELMONT

I enjoyed taking Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London and the Conservative Candidate for the Parliamentary seat of Uxbridge, over to Belmont Circle for a walkabout tour of our shops there.

Boris commented after his visit, “I have been walking around with Bob and he has a massive name recognition - everyone was rushing up to thank him for something he had done, and he’s obviously a very diligent, active MP."

ACHIEVEMENTS CHECKLIST

The last time the Labour Party were in Government, we were left with a record mountain of public debt and a huge deficit. Now, after only 5 years of a Conservative Government, that deficit is falling, employment is rising and our economy is growing. Hardworking taxpayers locally are seeing the benefits and we now have an unemployment figure of less than 2% in Harrow East.

However, the job isn’t done yet. This May you have the chance to vote for a tried and tested MP with a track record of getting things done.re.
Bob has already:

•    Safeguarded Whitchurch Playing Fields from a private consortium for local schools to use.

•    Personally hosted more than 2000 constituents on tours of the Houses of Parliament with Q&A sessions.

•    Successfully campaigned for funding for Northwick Park Hospital’s new £21 million A&E facility and secured £20 million for the redevelopment of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.
•    Lobbied to ensure that funding has been made available for schools locally, with £70 million secured and 15 local primary schools currently expanding (including Elmgrove School, pictured below, right).

•    Fought on behalf of local residents whose lives are being blighted by Barnet FC’s Hive.

•    Campaigned tirelessly for lifts to be added to Stanmore and Canons Park stations and strongly supported plans to extend Crossrail to Harrow and Wealdstone station.

•    Taken up more than 17,000 individual cases on behalf of local residents. No problem to big!

GET INVOLVED!

If you have a few hours to spare, come along and get involved. Everyone has a part to play, whether it's by helping put together leaflets, dropping them off when you have the time, speaking to people on the phone or going out and talking to them on the doorsteps. If you just want to show support, why not ask us for a poster to put in your window! We'll be more than happy to get one to you.

And we often have interesting visitors coming in to lend a hand alongside our volunteers, like the co-Chairman of the Conservative Party, Grant Shapps, for example...

Don't be shy!  Come volunteer by emailing harroweastconservatives@btinternet.com or by calling 020 8421 4161.
