'Business, labor and civil society organisations have skills and resources
that are vital in helping to build a more robust global community.'

Kofi Annan (2001 Nobel Prize Winner)

There is much evidence that business community partnerships achieve high impact in building and fostering creative collaborations, ideas and long term networks.   An example of this is the not-for-profit international forum TEDx which launched in Sydney this month. TEDx is an international conduit for inspiration and ideas that aims to be a platform that creates and fosters a sense of community amongst people and organisations who  wish to stimulate conversation and debate around the world.

The Chamber's commitment to business community partnerships is reflected through the significant contribution and volunteer effort our Chamber executives provide through regular committee meetings, numerous networks/stakeholder sessions and constant communication with our growing business membership.  Working towards our shared vision in ensuring our diverse and unique Precinct thrives and flourishes, we welcome you to let us know if we can do more to support your business.

Over the past year retail turnover rose 3.2% with food retailing the best performer with a stable trend of figures up 0.5 per cent.

Westpac's economists say some of the price falls may be due to retailers finally passing on the benefits of the high Australian dollar, which has made imported goods cheaper.

On a final note, the rise in retail sales volumes should be good for the official economic growth figures for the March quarter.  More
