Forgotten Techniques:
Masking, Copic Coloring, 1-Layer

I don't know what made me watch this video by Kelly Latevola, but I was absolutely blown away by all the techniques on her card.  Just the review of masking alone was amazing.

So, make sure your morning is free, you have your coffee and are in your comfy pants, 'cuz after this, you'll be in your supplies looking for masking paper, Copics and small stamp sets!  Since it's after Christmas, I'm thinking of critter stamps and winter scenes.
There is so much useful information here!  Hope you can watch it!

Distress Oxide Water Painting

Jennifer McGuire has a fun video using Distress Oxides, which I love working with.  Check it out and maybe you'll give it a try!

Creative Mojo

After cleaning up the train wreck of my craft room the day after Christmas, I wanted to create something based on the above two videos.  As it turns out, I didn't create anything based specifically on the videos, but I did work with Distress Oxides and the ghosting technique.  I was able to get 3-4 stampings with Oxide ghosting.

Here's the technique:  Ink the rubber stamp and spritz water directly on the rubber and stamp the image. (I used regular cardstock.)  Without inking again, just spritz the rubber and stamp.  Continue to spritz and stamp until all the ink is gone.
Each card has subtle differences yet they are all very similar.  The very last card was really ghost stamped from the card next to it.  It needed some doodles to add some depth but I like the hazy look to it.  I wasn't ready to jump into spring florals so I went with the "idea" of a Christmas amaryllis!

More Challenge Sites!

My list of challenge sites using non-specific product lines is growing!  If you haven't been to it in awhile, if you have nothing to do (after all, the Christmas crazy rush is over!), if you're looking for something different to do, if you need ideas of other card makers to inspire you, or if you're just plain curious, then click on my link HERE.

Have a Happy New Year!

XOXO
