Watercolor Play
I absolutely love snowdrops and know they are a sign that winter will soon end!  That was my inspiration for painting this week.  I linked a Pinterest photo if you are interested in trying this yourself while we wait for winter to be over!  I felt it needed a sentiment and I found an old Hero Arts wood stamp (yes, wood!) and I was very nervous about it not stamping well.  I used Fun Stampers Journey ink and practiced on a scrap of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor.  Once satisfied that it stamped well and wasn't mounted on the block crooked, I went for it on my painted piece!  Was going to make this a card but I need to see this on my wall as a way of getting through the cold days ahead!  Onward to Hobby Lobby!

CAS cards aren't my go-to style and I wish it was!!!  Isn't this Paper Smooches card adorbs?  Why couldn't we re-create it using dots, tiny flowers or odd shapes?  In a hurry to bang out a card?  This layout is great for getting a card in the mail fast.

And here's my take:
We're starting to see more heart related cards on Pinterest and, as most of you know, hearts are my signature and I'm always sticking them in my work all year long.  The above Rejoicing Crafts post captured my attention because of the watercolor background.  Any die and word can be popped over the background.

A bonus to this link is the actual post that links to Kristine Werner's YouTube video on stamp 'smooshing' and it was great to see a review of this technique!  Her card is adorable as well.

Who's gonna try these great card ideas this week?  Send me a photo if you do!!!

Meanwhile, here's how my smoosh time was spent:
I used the same Distress inks as the inspiration card.  The pretty heart die Penny Black and hugs (A Muse) I think.  Sequins (Fun Stampers Journey).
Orienting this in landscape fits the larger diecut sentiment better (Penny Black).

Speaking of sequins, most of you know I LOVE them, but to some, they are a source of frustration trying to get them glued and in place exactly where you want them.  After watching the Rejoicing Crafts video, she used a tool that I have (but don't use)!  I dug it out of my Basic Kit and it worked like a charm!!!  I'm loving sequins even more!!!  Here's the tool.  Wonder how many of you have it?

I couldn't resist creating a February calendar using Fun Stampers Journey products!  Click on the photo for my blog post.  Send me pix of your February calendar!

Have a pleasant week!
