Contractor and works

We are making good progress with the preparations for the project ‘Improved connections on Ngatai Road’ and look forward to appointing the contractor by the end of the year.

We will be commencing construction on the shared crossings opposite the Matua Saltmarsh and close to the Otumoetai roundabout between 14  and 21 January 2020. The school holidays provide us with the opportunity to undertake this disruptive work when traffic volumes are lower. We will strive to have this work complete before schools return in early February. All works are weather dependent.

Drop-in session 22 January 2020

We invite you to meet the project and construction team at our community drop-in session early next year. Please find the details for this event below. We will communicate more details about this session closer to the time.

Date: Wednesday 22 January 2020
Time: 4pm to 6pm
Venue: Carlton Street Reserve

Out and about in the community

We went for a walkabout in the community last week. A common question we heard was:
On which side of the road will the two-way cycle lane be built?

A 3m wide cycle lane will be built on the Saltmarsh side of the road, where the parking will be removed. It will be located between the Otumoetai roundabout and Saltmarsh crossing in front of the Otumoetai Intermediate bike shed on Ngatai Road. We will maintain parking on the opposite side of the road.

Below is an artist’s impression of a cross-section view of Ngatai Road once the works are done.

Summer holiday period

The summer school holidays are almost here. We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

The project staff will be taking advantage of the Builders’ Break between 23 December and 5 January and look forward to returning to work on 6 January 2020.
