Happy New Year to all of our Arataki residents and enews subscribers. We hope you are enjoying the break and had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

Intersection improvements
In mid-December we were able to advise that the much-needed safety improvements to the Farm Street / Concord Avenue / Links Avenue intersection were planned to start in January 2020.

We are right on schedule so these will be starting this week.
Road closures

The road closures will be in place from Wednesday 8 January and will happen in two stages:

Stage 1
The intersection of Farm Street / Concord Avenue / Links Avenue will be completely closed (see Stage 1 map below) with signposted detours in place. Each road closure point will be manned in order to maintain access for all residents in this area.

Footpath access will be maintained at all times but with some diversions in place.

There will be a traffic controller on site throughout the construction period from 6am to 6pm (traffic control will be onsite to set the road closures up each morning and remove them each evening at these times. Actual construction by Fulton Hogan will be between 7am - 5.30pm).

The bus stops on Links Avenue will be temporarily relocated to outside the following properties:
  • 45 Concord Avenue
  • 55 Oceanbeach Road
  • 14A Golf Road
Information on these temporary bus route changes is available at the bus stops themselves and via the
Bay Bus Website
Stage 2
The second stage of road closures will require a section of Concord Avenue between Farm Street and Leander Street to be fully closed (see Stage 2 map below). Signage will be in place to alert road users and advise of detours.

Each road closure point will be manned to maintain access for residents. The footpath access will be maintained with some diversions.

All bus stops will be reinstated on Links Avenue and operate as normal during the Stage 2 closure.
Further information about the road closures
  • These road closures are in place to expedite the works so they can be completed as quickly as possible. We aim to have the work finished before school starts. We (along with council's contractor) will be working as efficiently as possible to get the roads open again. We are unable to give specific time frames around the closures at this time as they are dependent on the progression of works and the weather.
  • Any questions around rubbish collection, courier deliveries or regular post can be directed to our contractors, Fulton Hogan.
  • If any works are to be undertaken outside of the standard construction hours (7.00am - 5.30pm), for example, line marking, Fulton Hogan will inform any directly affected residents 48 hours prior to the work commencing.
Art in the alleyways

Together with the Arataki community, Tauranga City Council completed a make-over of two alleyways in Arataki. The local community supported by Council and Resene painted the  fences in the alleyways between Berescourt Place to Solway Place and Berwick Place to Compton Place. Some fantastic art panels and bollards created by Mount Maunganui Intermediate students have been installed. Take some time to wander through and enjoy these attractive alleyways.

Our thanks to you and everyone involved in this community project.
