We have used the time since Studio MH Day to continue crunching the numbers and we have good news to share!

Menstrual Hygiene Day 2021 was bloody fantastic!

We haven’t allowed COVID-19 to stop our movement. On the contrary, together, we have made MH Day 2021 bigger, better, stronger, and more impactful than ever!

Here are the almost-final numbers from this year's campaign to prove that:

  • Over 220,000 contributions on social media
  • Global campaign video viewed 6 million times
  • Over 8,300 news articles on digital media
  • 600-700 in-person and online events worldwide
  • More than 800 official MH Day partner organisations

While we are still in the process of calculating the final campaign reach, it is clear that we will break last year’s record of 411 million people reached by a margin!

These results are absolutely a-m-a-z-i-n-g, especially if we look at the growth we’ve managed to achieve. Over the last 5 years, media coverage has increased x50. In the same period, our collective reach has grown more than x20! 

The MH Day movement is really moving the needle!

However, to create a world where no woman or girl is held back because she menstruates by 2030, we urgently need more investment in the issue. Without more funding, we can’t take our efforts to scale. 

That’s why the critical next step now is to translate increased awareness and relevance into more investment in MHH. We will keep you posted as we start working on a new advocacy component that enables partners to collectively push for more investment in MHH.
